Kyl to Obama: Stop Whining

(CBS)
Talk about a tough grader.

Asked what he thought about President Obama's State of the Union speech Wednesday night Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) told NPR earlier today that the text was too partisan and a stylistic bust.
"Well, you know, it's customary to say, well, the rhetoric was good, but maybe he needed more substance. That's the usual assessment of State of the Union speeches. I found this one to be A, too long, B, too political, and if he had an intention to reach out to Republicans, I can tell you it did not achieve the objective, nor did I think it was as much an assessment of the state of the nation or union as it was a political tirade."

But Kyl - who likely shared Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's opinion of the president's speech - was just getting warmed up. Asked what he meant by political, he said:

"First of all, I would've thought by now he would've stopped blaming the Bush administration for the mess that he inherited. And I don't think that the American people want a whiner who says, woe is me. It was a terrible situation. And more than a year after he's sworn in, he's still complaining about the Bush administration."

Kyl's post-mortem followed the official script. In a blog post on its Web site, the Republican National Committee roundly dismissed the Obama speech as "another case of 'Do as I say, not as I do."

So much for a political cease-fire in Washington.

Because of the Supreme Court, you now do NOT have FREE speech: what you have to do is PAY FOR YOUR SPEECH. And, who, besides corporations and their Republican sweethearts, has the money to pay the most for FREE SPEECH. Puleeze. Lovely twist of the word, boys. Too bad you can't be held to its real meaning. And you thought no one would notice.

Indie, You need to quit reading the DailyKook. Our constitution prohibits the exercise of free speech. Mc-Feingold simply tried to keep people and specific groups of people from exercising their right to free speech by prohibiting them from commenting on the idiots who hold office. As to B'Ho assertion that the SCOTUS opinion in would allow foreigner to participate in our political discourse was simply wrong. As everyone who has any sense knew "Obama Lied" is correct.

We will never stop blaming Bush for the economic meltdown, because it is his - and the Republicans' - fault ! It happened because of his - and their- policies ! There is no statute of limitations on history ! You can't blame the Democrats just because they took the House in 2006, Bush still had the veto, Kyle and the Senate Republicans still had the filibuster, nothing the Democrats did made it into law until after Obama was inaugurated. Don't you people understand our political system at all ? The Republicans froze the Democrats out for eight years, they had the steering wheel, and the car ended up in the ditch - what part of that don't you understand ? Anyone voting Republican NOW will head us BACK into the ditch. Unbelievable.

Your car in the ditch analogy is exact. I'm not sure we have got the car out of the ditch yet, and the Republicans are just standing around deliberately not helping.

Kyle is the biggest baby in Congress. He whines about everything the Dems do. Maybe he should take his own advise; or better yet, maybe he should quit the Congress.

I would like him and McSame to quit the Senate, but that is not likely. People of Arizona are an odd bunch.

The case before the Supreme Court had nothing to do multinational corporations. They are still forbidden to advertize political campaigns.

What about Toyota USA?

What if King Abdul Aziz - the King of Saudi Arabia - bought Exxon-Mobil, an American company?

They don't have to buy the companies, just use the US company to funnel the money to where they want it.

Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is what is going to bankrupt America. Trillions and Trillions of unfunded mandates. If nothing is done to stop it, it will consume our entire GDP. Grover Norquist would be correct. You comment is stupid and void of reality.

All three were fine, until the republicans - specifically Reagan and Bush Jr - started "borrowing" money form those programs, instead of from the general fund, like they're supposed to.

You are almost 38 years too late son. The US was bankrupt the day Nixon floated the dollar, it is why he did it. We have never recovered. You might want to check your history, The US was bankrupted by the Vietnam war profiteers, Bechtel Corp (the parent company of Halliburton, btw), and Raytheon, among others.

The same old strawman the gop always trots out for their sheep. The Dems had a TWO vote majority in 2006 hardly control. The gop and bush shot down everything the Dems tried.

Sir Kyl,
We are still rightly blaming Hurricane Katrina for the devastation in Louisina, and are going to blame the Haitian earthquack for some time. These are the causes of long-lasting destruction. Underground gaps and aftershocks are to be found and felt for some time to come, all caused by those two initial forces. The Bush-Cheney storm lasted eight years, and was much more widespread in its effects. Stop blaming Bush-Cheney?? Are you serious?

Are you kidding me? It will probably take decades for America to recover from Dub's disastrous presidency. Kyl wants Obama to take care of this mess in one year? I'm surprised to see a Republican have such faith in a Democrat.

Yes, because Obama said he could.

He promised a lot of things - don't you remember?

He explicitly told us that he could undo what Bush had done. Did he not know what he was talking about? Did we elect an incompetent, ignorant fool who was LYING about knowing what he was gonna do?

Blaming Bush is for years when you don't have power and control. Blaming Bush was fine - in fact, I was with you that Bush was the root of all evil - when the Republicans had everything. But now the Dems have everything, and deliver NOTHING.

Just how much time do you think you HAVE? It's been A YEAR ALREADY. You're a quarter of the way DONE already! Stop whining and pick yourselves up and FIX THING!

He promised a lot of things that he thought that he could get..... without realizing that the Repukians were not going to allow him to do ANYTHING that could fix the problems that they made, because if he does.... DEAD REPUBLICAN PARTY, IN HELL, WHERE IT BELONGS!

That's the bottom line here.... the Republicans know that if the Democrats fix numerous problems, their party is DEAD for the next 25 years, at least.
