Not every gay person supports all "gay" legislation. Besides, isn't he supposed to represent his constituents? Must lawmakers always support proposals that will benefit themselves personally? If voters don't like it they can oust him but it's not necessarily hypocracy.

?I felt my duty, and I still feel this way, is to represent my constituents.?

If being gay means he "chose" an immoral lifestyle, which is what his anti-gay constituents believe, then he's choosing a lifestyle that doesn't represent his constituents.

If he's gay and born that way, which is what everyone except the right wing religious extremists believe, than he supported discrimination against his "own" and is a hypocrite.

Which is it? I'm gay and it's personal doesn't cut it.

Another day, another Republican hypocrite. A "family values" champion by day, a gay bar cruiser by night.

Jay Leno said that Ashburn was just "poling" his constituents.

Hypocrisy = political prostitution for corporate campaign funding, ensuring/purchasing votes to their benefit and their benefit only (corporatocracy). Otherwise known as legal bribes. When is corporate lobbying going to be made illegal? Let's all ask that of both our state and federal representatives. And come on, who's he trying to kid? One look and the world knows he's gay. What a rube.

Even CNN isnt reporting on this because NONE of it can be confirmed, except the DUI arrest. CBS will be issuing a retraction in a few days

IN ADDITION TO DRIVING DRUNK AND BEING A HYPOCRITE, ASHBURN STOLE - WORD FOR WORD - DRUNK-DRIVING GOP SENATOR SHELDON KILLPACK'S APOLOGY FROM JANUARY:

ASHBURN: I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me ? my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate." MAR 2010

KILLPACK: I am deeply sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me -- my colleagues in the Senate, my constituents, and, most importantly, my family." JAN 2010

Those Republicans, they really stay on message

The reason i am upset, is that he votes against gay issues one minute, and then gets horizontal with gay men. He is a hypocrite. Thats why.
