SAN DIEGO (CBS/AP) The search for 17-year-old Chelsea King has resumed in San Diego County, though authorities fear she was raped and killed by a sex offender, according to The Associated Press.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Plese says volunteers and searchers resumed the search Monday morning for the Poway teen.

King never returned home Thursday after a run in the area.

John Gardner III, a Riverside County man, remains jailed for investigation of rape and murder following his weekend arrest. San Diego County Sheriff William Gore says questioning has been unproductive.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that investigators were seen Monday at a town home a mile from the park.

The paper says public records link the home to Gardner.

Some 1,500 people searched in and around Rancho Bernardo Community Park and Lake Hughes in San Diego on Sunday but found nothing
