Lauren Ashley Pictures: Miss Beverly Hills Thinks God Wants Gays "Put to Death"

NEW YORK (CBS) As the California courts decide the legality of gay marriage, Miss Beverly Hills Lauren Ashley has thrown her tiara into the ring and believes that God thinks gay men should be "put to death."

"The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman," Ashley told FOX News. "In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.' The Bible is pretty black and white."

Ashley's comments surface just months after former Miss California Carrie Prejean settled dueling lawsuits with state beauty pageant organizers amid her high-profile stand against gay marriage.

And like Prejean, Ashely stands by her words.

"I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone," Ashley said to FOX News. "If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that's a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life."

Ashley will be representing Beverly Hills in the Miss California pageant in November.

Secondly, I agree that no matter how you cut it, people do and always will pick and choose the Bible laws they want to follow and uphold (do you eat a kosher diet and consider yourself impure/untouchable when you're menstruating for women and when you have nocturnal emissions for men? no going to church, no sex, no human touch, no contact with others whatsoever...how about not working in ANY way on the Sabbath?).

Thirdly, whoever Lauren Ashley is, she's obviously been in the spotlight before and she needs to learn to speak more responsibly if she really is being taken out of context.

She's making a bad name for those of us who do believe in God and DON'T believe that homosexuality is a sin, and DON'T believe that people should be hateful towards others for any reason, especially people who call themselves Christians.

Jesus never denounced, judged, or discriminated against gay people in any way...whether or not their behavior is a sin in his eyes depends on your belief, but his treatment of them didn't change regardless of what you believe. Just food for thought...; Reply to this comment

If, after reading the Bible completely you still believe that the Bible is just abook of stories then I won't say anything else to you about the Bible. Read it for yourself and see what the Bible TRULY says and not what someone else says it says. If you are going to uphold the Leviticus chapter in the Bible that states homosexual behavior is a sin, then you better uphold all the other Leviticus laws such as ?Do not wear materials woven of two kinds (Leviticus 19:19).To stay locked inside your home when you?ve got your period (Leviticus 15:19-30) It's an abomination to eat lobster or shrimp (Leviticus 11:10). No Bacon (Leviticus 11:7). If a woman isn't a vigrin on her wedding day she should be stoned to death(Deuteronomy (22:20-21)

by stephenbene42 February 26, 2010 4:18 PM EST: Anyone can pull a Bible verse out of context and make a point for either side of this argument. When God gave these laws to the people of Israel they were marching through the desert looking for the Promised Land. These laws don't sound right to a 21st century mind because we are some 8,000 years removed from when the laws were given. The women did NOT need to leave their homes because there were no tampons or pads which meant that this was prohibitted for hygiene issues. The eating of pork and the other animals that are prohibitted are for health reasons which can be confirmed by modern day science.

The problem with your argument is that you are ONLY choosing Old Testament passages. The Old Testament is God's law for His people the nation of Israel. The New Testament is God's grace for all people. The Old Testament laws were written specifically for the Jews. That is not to say that we can throw away the Old Testament and live just by the New Testament. Both are the Word of God and the PRINCIPLES in each are to be adhered to by modern day people.

The Old Testament says "Do not murder." In the New Testament Jesus said that if you have hate in your heart for anyone you have already committed murder because murder is a product of hate. The Old Testament says, "Do not have sex outside of marriage." In the New Testament Jesus said that if you look on someone else with lust in your heart then you have already committed adultry with that person. Jesus also said in Matthew 5:17, "I did not come to destroy the Law. No I came to accomplish their purpose." Romans 3:19 -20 says, "Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show the ENTIRE world is guilty before God. For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law (Old Testament) commands. The law (Old Testament)simply shows us how sinful we are." Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, "God saved you by His grace (New Testament) when you believed; and you can't take credit for this, it is the gift of God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."

Julie, I hope that you will read the Bible for yourself to find out what it truly says. Taking verses out of context does not do anything but cause confusion and God is not a God of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33)

Lauren said that has many gay friends and that they have this discussion all of the time. She does not hate gay people but she does not agree with their lifestyle. As she said the Bible is very black and white about homosexuality and goes so far as to say it is, "...an abomination unto the Lord." God hates homosexuality because it goes against the way He created us. Man and woman fit naturally together because we were created to fit this way. God hates homosexuality but not homosexuals. There is a big difference! I can hate my son's actions without hating my son! Why is it that gays are awarded free speech whenever they want, can speak cruelly against anyone who doesn't agree with them, even to the point of being down right nasty, and no one bats an eye but a person who disagrees with homosexuality is called "intolerant, simple-minded, arrogant, and judgmental"? Where is their free speech to speak out against something they think is wrong? Someone who opposes homosexuality is labeled as intolerant but a gay person can say all kind of nasty, vulgar things about that person and they are using their 1st Ammendment right of free speech. The double standard disgusts me! You have the right to present your views as long as you are respectful and I should be given the same opportunity to express my opinions the same way. We can agree to disagree but we can do without the name calling and negative comments. In the words of the great philosopher Rodney King, "Why can't we all just get along." Miss Beverly Hills forgot to read the rest of the book. Had she read the rest of the chapter of Leviticus which she references, she'd have found that many sins are listed as "worthy unto death", many of which each of us is guilty of committing. What it boils down to is, if we live in sin it will cause spiritual death and often physical death. The crux of the matter is simply, "God hates sin but loves the sinner and sent His son Our Lord Jesus Christ as our atonement." If one repents of his/her sin, i.e., "turns away from" and stops committing that sin, and turns control of his/her life over to God through Christ, He/she can be forgiven. But then as in the case of a liar, he/she is no longer a liar. And the homosexual would no longer engage in homosexual activity and therefore would no longer be a homosexual. Scripture tells us that God wishes that "all would come to know the love of Christ and be saved". We are all God's sons and daughters whether we know it or not as is every man or woman on planet Earth. We have a choice to love and obey Him or to do our own thing. If we choose the latter, we will pay for it eternally. May you all come to know the love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Just as everyone sins, we may all have that end, however, hopefully because God is merciful and forgiving we will all find our relationship with God and our own redemption. I do not believe there is any sin that is worse than another and I believe we all sin and I believe firmly that the Good News of the New Testament is that Jesus died to take away our sin and allow us forgiveness for our sin.
