BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBS/AP) To his neighbors, Michael Abdallah was a family man who wouldn't hurt a fly. But police say, to his 13-year-old captive, he was a monster.

The 26-year-old Buffalo man remains locked up Monday on charges of holding a teenage girl in his house for six months, having sex with her more than 100 times, and making her baby-sit his 1-year-old son.

Abdallah pleaded not guilty in Buffalo City Court to second-degree rape, unlawful imprisonment and custodial interference Saturday, a day after being arrested at his home, about 30 miles south of Niagara Falls.

Police spokesman Michael DeGeorge was unable to say Monday where the 13-year-old girl is now, or how her ordeal ended. She was held from last July to December. Authorities offered no explanation for the time lag preceding Abdallah'sarrest.

A police report said Abdallah's apartment had no doorknobs and the exit door could only be opened by using a key to unlock two deadbolts. Police also found marijuana inside the home, the report said.

The arrest shocked neighbors, who said they neither saw nor heard anything unusual at the house, especially during the summer months when they had windows open and spent time outside.

George Kimble, who lives four doors away, said his daughters socialized with Abdallah's next-door neighbors, spending time on the porch during nice weather.

"The whole neighborhood is in shock because nobody heard or suspected or knew anything," said Kimble, who was skeptical of the allegations.

"If somebody was in there, they could have screamed, yelled, hollered, thrown a chair through the window," Kimble said.

Court officials said Abdallah did not have a lawyer Saturday. He is due back in court on Thursday.

Do you know how intimidating an adult monster can be to a 13-year-old? He probably told her he would kill her family if she even made a peep. I don't understand the 2ND DEGREE rape charges either. Maybe the more times you rape someone reduces the penalty. Also, how about the girl's family who was worried sick for 6 months?

According to Islam - it was not rape if she didn't wear a Burka. Ok? Is this the kind of religion we want in our country?????????????

Ever heard of "The Crusades"??? Is that the kind of religion we want in our country??

Before spouting stupidity, its probably best to do a little thinking. How about it, next time? Thanks in advance!

One wonders how many times a man has to perform rape to qualify for first degree in NY.

Sheesh.

I keep saying . . . .we can solve this problem of sexual preditors, especially those who prey on children.

Give them to us Native American women. We can handle it now just like we did in our cultures before the white man. Give us a half dozen or so and the rest of the subhuman perverts would figure out how to keep it zipped up 'cause none of them would want to go through what those half dozen had gone through before their deaths.

Yes, we kill them. But not quickly or easily or humanly. And the rest learn their lesson and modify their behavior.

He's a monster. Lock him up and throw away the key. He ruined someone's life, ruin his.

Another obvious clash of cultures. Just a western misunderstanding of Islam.

One of the main problems is that human rights activists and our prison systems protect vial trash who prey on children by putting them in cells all by themselves. If they were to be mainstreamed into prison life the way most are, I'm sure that many inmates would deal with them in their own way, so that we the tax payers would not have to feed, clothe and provide adequate health care for any of them.

In 2005, when 9 year old Jessica Lunsford was raped and buried alive, her father wanted our justice sytem to change the color of prison uniforms for child predators, making them stand out above the crowd.

Her killer was sentenced to death, but we all know that many years can pass before it actually happens. Four years went by, while we all contributed our tax dollars to his welfare. He happened to die last year of cancer, or so they say...it was way way overdo.

Think about how many others in prison there are that are being protected as we speak. As far as I'm concerned they should be executed shortly after they are tried and convicted.
