SAN ANTONIO, Texas (CBS) Texas police are investigating possible animal cruelty charges against Wolfie Blackheart, a 23-year-old self-proclaimed "werewolf," who happily admits she severed the head of a missing dog, boiled it and then posted a photo of the ghoulish results on the Internet.

Photo: Wolfie Blackheart.

"I severed the head, boiled the head," Wolfie told the San Antonio Express News. "People make the mistake of hacking the spine, which will fracture the skull."

She also told the paper, "You also have to put (the head) outside for the brains to leak out."

Sounds horrifying, but is it a crime? That depends on whether the dog was alive when it was decapitated.

Photo: "Rigsby" went missing Jan. 5. Did he wind up under Blackheart's knife?

Lisa Norwood, a spokesperson for Animal Care Services, says medical examiners should be able to determine if the dog was dead when its head was removed. It's provable "a number of different ways forensically," she said.

San Antonio police got a warrant to search Blackheart's home that she shares with her mother, according to the San Antonio Express-News. They found the walls were plastered with posters and smeared with a red substance her mom says is ketchup. On a high shelf, the paper says police found Blackheart's collection of animal heads, including the cleaned skulls of a coyote, ram and wild boar. She also had a collection of large knives and swords. Taxidermy is apparently a hobby and passion.

Police swabbed the walls and confiscated the heads, including the dog head.

For her part, Blackheart, whose born name is Sarah Rodriguez, says the dog was already dead when a friend brought it to her and claims she would never hurt a living dog.

"I would never kill a canine," she told the paper. "I am a canine."

Nevertheless, her current (Warning Graphic Content) MySpace profile picture shows the dog's severed head on a rainbow background.

The Internet has been swarming with anger at Blackheart, who says she's been flooded with prank calls and hate mail, but there is one person for whom the whole episode has hit hardest.

Blackheart's neighbor, Kathy Silva, says she believes the dog is hers. "My heart pretty much sank," Silva told the San Antonio Express-News, "because when I saw that picture, I said, 'That's Rigsby.'"

Rigsby, originally a stray adopted by the Silva family, has been missing since Jan. 5.

"He was the sweetest dog ever," she said.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Should Blackheart be punished or, if the dog was already dead, was she within her rights?

I went to school with this girl in San Antonio; at two different schools. I even rode the bus with her. Yes, she was weird when I first met her; she was known as a huge fan of animals and wanted to be a vet. When I met her again later on at the second school (when I was in college), she was into this weird "wolfie" crap the circles she frequented were into. Granted, she did yip when her asthma got the best of her and she had changed her name but she never struck me as a "bone collector"/taxidermist.

For the record, I'm a bit surprised but not really. In fact, I'm laughing at the moment because I always knew her screws were as loose as Sybil's. I went to a special education alternative school with her and she seemed half-way to normal. It goes to show how impressions can fool you.

Are you ******* kidding me? When you post a picture of a dog's severed head on the internet, there are certain realities you and that idiot can be certain of: it was not done out of respect, it was not done out of a love of animals, and it will be remembered. There is no story that will justify butchering an innocent, whether dead or alive, and bragging about it by posting on the web. Better let her and her friends know, this is not going away.

Two of her followers (wolf puppies?) recently committed suicide at Brandeis High School. And now her followers are threatening retribution against normal kids at several local schools. Isn't conspiracy to commit murder a crime? Why haven't the Keystone cops of the SAPD locked her up? She has so much blood on her hands now.

We seem to be producing more freaky people than ever. People have to do weird things to get noticed. Tattoos, piercings, weird dress sense and now this young girl. As far as I'm concerned it is all fuelled by drugs and the wish to escape reality. Something very strange is going on.

Oh and for the record, the dog wasn't lost. It was taken from the backyard by Sarah's two friends.

You people Create the monster! You think yourselves all high and mighty to judge someone based on hearsay, withought even knowing the facts and evidence of the case. So she believes in werewolves and thinks herself to be something of the sort. Wether She is guilty or innocent of the crime lays in the courts hands. you people act like the witch trials of the 16oo's. based on heresay and opinion over fact. Honestly those things in her past you bring up, I cant Fathom how they would be relevent to this accusation. So the girl is into taxidermy, and looks and acts different from yourselves you would automatically BURN her at the stake for something you really don't know about. If the court were to find her guilty....fine.. and if not ... fine honestly i don't care either way. what ticks me off is the damn witch hunt of people who don't fit Your Precious Norm. So untill The Law has something to say Let the system of innocent untill proven guilty do it's damn job! and remember that you're NOT perfect either. And in hounding and pressing the hatered, YOU may CREATE a monster that didn't exist before. and one day that monster may spread to you and yours!

I think she's a kid being a kid. I'm 18 going on 19 in a few months. I can see where she's coming from. it's slightly disturbing but if the dog was dead and it was some one else who gave her the dog then its not her fault go after the friend not her. I mean its not like she is hurting the animal when it was alive. I think its dumb to get after her for something so small. Her friend stole the dog not her. Just because you feel creeped out should shy your self away from the point of justice. She didn't break the law her friend did.

You're just as dumb as EagleScoutWulf. What "kid" beheads a dog (whether it's already dead or not), boils the skull and then displays it on her wall!?! Seriously, what is wrong with you?
by cdkscully July 24, 2010 2:15 PM EDT
when I was 18 going on 19 I didn't think about killing animals or beheading them. I was in my first year of college.

This is not something so small. She MURDERED A LIVE ANIMAL. An animals experiences pain and fear.

If shew as serious being into taxidermy, she go to school, be trained, open up her own business in a zone for taxidermy and have people bring her animals legitimately.

She doesn't set up this in her house or in the woods and NOT by stealing the neighbor's dog.

She gets off on it as she is a psychopath. Maybe she will come after you next. That's usually what these type of people do.

Are any of you in college planning on what you will do as an adult? You can't have blood on your hands when you go into the working world.

Hmm I think everyone is getting waaayy to worked up about this to me there is no harm in taxidermy the dog was dead. Its not like she tortured the dog or took an axe and hacked away at the dog while it was alive someone just happened to bring the dog over and asked for its head... to me its the exact same thing as going out shooting a deer and then cutting its head off and mounting it in your house nothing wrong with it. She didn't even know it was someones missing dog the person came in and said it was their dog and that it was hit by a car she didn't just find it lying on the ground someone brought it to her if anything you should question the person that picked up the dog on the side of the road but even then there is nothing wrong with this you all just need to relax. To alot of you this is strange and disturbing but taxidermy is normal

Taxidermy is an accepted practice with game and exotic animals. Can/Do people get their domestic pets done? Yeah. Why, the subject interested me when I was younger, and I had my passed pets (a few large fish, two ball pythons, and a rat snake) either dried or mounted. Despite these facts, there is a large community, including myself, who don't condone sport and trophy hunting. There's also people who think getting your dog or cat stuffed is also pretty weird/creepy.

Everyone's getting worked up because what she did, isn't taxidermy. The dog isn't beautifully preserved. It's not a picture of the skull, infact, as far as I can tell, she didn't bother posting the finished "work" at all. Instead, she's proudly holding the bloody head. This is graphic, and a beheaded dog is going to rub the general public the wrong way, no matter how you put it. And to aggravate the situation, the dog was allegedly stolen. Helloooo, scandal!

This is news because this isn't run of the mill taxidermy, nor is it everyday animal abuse. You have this girl who isn't conforming to society's standards, declaring she's a werewolf (I'm okay with the whole Furry scene, but that takes it a little too far), with pre-existing pictures of her face smeared with blood and a fancy for knives and animal's heads. It then just so happens that her neighbor's dog disappears, and a few days later, a picture is taken in her house of her holding the bloody head. She probably could've gotten away with it if she had an album or blog where she documented her taxidermy works, but instead, she posts this lone picture, clearly for the shock value.

And now there's an investigation because this dog was missing, and turned up as it did. Her history of animal cruelty and mutilation provides even further grounds for suspicion. You're also ignoring the fact that what she says could be a total lie, a coverup story because obviously, now she's in hot water. She very well could've stolen the dog, or known about the theft, disposed of his collar to cover her tail, and could've butchered him alive.
In another interview, she claimed he was already dead, and "kinda stiff", so now she's telling different stories to different people, making her look even more guilty. Furthermore, if this were the case, and if the dog were in rigor, there wouldn't be that kind of blood on her hand. To poke a hole in this story, and accentuate the grounds for the investigation: they put the dog out of his misery, she doesn't say HOW. Hacking off his head would be one way to do it. Incredibly inhumane (and why charges would be pressed), but it'd die eventually, and hence, the ending of it's suffering. Where's the carcass? Does the carcass show any other injuries consistent with getting hit by a car to support this claim?
"I wouldn't hurt a canine" is a flimsy, transparent defense and otherwise BS. She should've continued to add "that she CARES about". After all, her dog is perfectly fine. And how'd she get her wolf's tail then? If she didn't kill the wolf herself then she obviously paid for the tail, thus condoning and supporting the killing of her "fellow canines".

Lastly, I find it hard to believe that she wouldn't question her friend. Not just because there's absolutely no way she couldn't have been aware of the true ownership and that he was missing, but that this dog obviously wasn't her friends, as ownership would've been previously established. But let's play the game- let's say the dog somehow escaped from his yard and was found by her friends, who would've said "Oh Wolfie, I found the cutest dog today!"...How the hell do you own a dog for a few days before it ends up dead, hm? Either by purposefully killing it, or gross negligence, in which case, the friend who claimed ownership and brought to Wolfie should be prosecuted. The friend should be the one prosecuted for theft (if it can't be adequately proven that the dog escaped from the yard), and for abuse/negligence. If it's determined the dog wasn't hit by a car and was decapitated while alive, then Wolfie as well should be charged.

Furthermore, after a bit of googling, I found her VampireFreaks profile, where she writes this about herself:
"Well the names Wolfie Blackheart. I?m just the friendly neighborhood werewolf. (NOT a Furry) I?m the Alpha of the C.B.W.P. I like a LOT of things. I?m in the B.D.S.M. Lifestyle, I?m a Passive Aggressive submissive, Sado/Masochist. I am currently a stray. I do not go to school. I?m very friendly, unless provoked. I tend to be a bit territorial and overly protective. One of my pet peeves is when others watch me eat. When I do snap, I tend to end up in jail. I do not fight to fight, I fight to kill. That?s one reason I?m considered so dangerous. I have nerve damage and do not feel much pain. So it is hard to hurt me. My favorite food is meat, my favorite snack food is Beef jerky. I?m pansexual with a preference to females. I?m extremely affectionate and love attention. I tend to always come off as a flirt. I?m very touchy feely and love to cuddle. I?m in love with love. I could be called a hopeless romantic. My zodiac sign is Leo, Others say that I?m the definition of a Leo. Lol. I like Anime but am NOT a wee boo I do not cosplay, nor will I. So do not ask. I?m dominant to most but secretly (not much a secret now) want to be dominated. But only to someone who deserves my loyal submissive nature. If I do not think you deserve it and you try to dominate over me, I will snap. It won?t be pretty. You will know if I?m submissive towards you because it will be in my posture, body language and tone. I do not like cussing and I do not smoke, drink or do drugs. I really do NOT like Zombies. They always infect my friends and family. I have quite a bit of MMA training and love a good wrestle. I can sometimes be a bit rough. Want to know anything else, just ask."

1) By adamantly saying she's not a furry, makes her look totally crazy because she's not just relating to a werewolf, but she honest to god believes she's one. Not healthy/normal.
2) She boasts that she can't feel pain, calls herself dangerous, and declares she fights to kill and warns of "snapping". Real charming. Definitely a stable person that wouldn't sever a dog's head. [/sarcasm]
3) Her fondness of meat in general that she, like most people, has no respect for animals, with little sense as to what it is to eat meat. While most people eat meat, they really don't brag about loving "meat", rather they'd say "I love a good steak" or something to that effect. She's stroking her obsession with death and gore.
4) Her appearance, and her statement of her sexuality is really all I need to cement the fact that Wolfie is little more than an attention *****. She's the stereotypical, cut-from-the-mold "non"-conformist, that feels the need to up the shock factor by wearing a wolf's tail and insisting she's a werewolf. With this personality, everything I said previously about her motive for taking the picture is absolutely correct.

I would put money on that she killed that poor dog because she couldn't harm her own dog/mate, and needed to get a fix of blood and death, taking the picture afterwards for the memory and to shock everyone that sees it, which fills her little black heart with content. I've no sympathy for her or her situation, and hope it's found that she and/or her friend(s) are found guilty and punished to the fullest extent of the law, as public executions by guillotines were unfortunately phased out. Pity.
