John "Junior" Gotti Wants to Write True Crime Novels

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) John "Junior" Gotti, the son of famed Gambino mob boss John Gotti, claimed at his recent New York trial that he didn't know much about crime. He had left his father's world behind him in 1999, he said.

Four hung juries in a row bought some portion of that story. And now, as the government says it will not try him a fifth time for allegedly ordering a series of murders, Junior says he is hoping to sell a few more stories - as a professional crime writer.

Last Friday, at a celebration dinner at a restaurant in Westbury on Long Island, Gotti told reporters that he's thinking about moving south and may write a true-crime book.

He says it may be "better for everybody" if he moves away.

Gotti served nine years in prison for racketeering, but prosecutors failed to convict him of charges that he ordered several murders. On Wednesday federal prosecutors said they would stop trying.
