N.Y. woman set man up for robbery after date, police say
Police said a man took Virginia Miller (bottom right) out on a date, but she was actually setting him up to be robbed. Miller is charged with robbery, along with (clockwise from bottom left) Rodney Fisher, 33; Jamar Christian, 21; and Michael Owens, 34.
/ Suffolk County Police via CBS New YorkVirginia Miller of North Amityville arranged to go on a date with the Lindenhurst man to celebrate her 26th birthday Monday night, police reportedly said. It was not disclosed how, or if, Miller knew the man before the date.
The station reports the man treated Miller to dinner at a fast food restaurant and gave her a box of chocolates. But upon returning to Miller's North Amityville home and sitting parked in the driveway, the man was confronted by a night of violence instead of romance.
CBS New York reports that police said Miller texted her accomplice-friends, who stormed out of the house and robbed the man. They allegedly assaulted him and stole his wallet, iPhone and a tablet. They even took the chocolates, police said, according to the station.
On Tuesday, police announced that they had arrested and charged three of the five suspected robbers. Rodney Fisher, 33, of Amityville; Jamar Christian, 21, of Copiague; and Michael Owens, 34, of Hempstead, were all charged with second-degree robbery. The two other suspects reportedly had not been caught.
Virginia Miller - who apparently really does believe that all is fair in love - was also arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, police said.
