Matthew White, former Univ. of Pennsylvania basketball player, fatally stabbed by wife, police say

(AP) MEDIA, Pa. - Authorities say a woman fatally stabbed her husband - a member of the University of Pennsylvania's 1979 Final Four team - as he slept Monday morning.

According to court records, the body of 53-year-old Matthew White was found early Monday in his bed at his home in the Philadelphia suburb of Media. Investigators say his wife, Maria Rey Garcia-Pellon, is charged with first-degree murder and is being held in Delaware County jail.

Police say Garcia-Pellon went to a friend's home after the alleged murder and said she had caught her husband viewing child pornography.

White was the starting center on Penn's Final Four team. He was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers and also played in Europe.

Do you realize "child pornography" could be anything from a video of some middle or high school kid masturbating on a webcam to an underage couple having sex? It does not necessarily mean he was looking at footage of a child being raped. And EVEN if he was, is that how strongly you believe in censorship, that someone should be KILLED for looking at certain materials? You can find videos online of terrorist groups beheading children, no one thinks its okay to kill someone for looking at those, but if someone LOOKS at a video of someone under 18 having sex, its okay to kill them?!! If he really was viewing child porn, then she did the right thing. Not enough people are standing up for the innocent children and one less pervert on the street or in the "system" being allowed back on the street the better. I know vigilante justice is not always the best course of action but in the case of child predators it is. Just my opinion.
