Nevada lawmaker, Steven Brooks, arrested after allegedly threatening fellow legislator
Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks
/ KTVNPolice say they began a search for Assemblyman Steven Brooks, on Saturday afternoon after receiving corroborating witness statements supporting the victim's report of a threat.
North Las Vegas police say Brooks was arrested without incident during a traffic stop, and booked into the Las Vegas jail on one count of intimidating a public officer by threat of physical violence.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that a source tells the paper that Brooks, 40, was in possession of a loaded gun at the time of his arrest.
Assembly Majority Leader William Horne declined to comment on the target of the threat, but says he and Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick have been provided extra security because of it.
Brooks, a Democrat, remained in jail Sunday afternoon.
