At least 1 student shot in Calif. school shooting

(AP) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy accused of shooting a classmate at a Taft., Calif., high school last week has been charged as an adult.

The Kern County district attorney's office announced on Monday that Bryan Oliver has been charged with attempted murder and other counts in the shooting on Thursday at Taft Union High School.

A 16-year-old boy was wounded in the shooting. People in the small San Joaquin Valley town who know the suspect have said he was teased for his small stature.

They describe him as smart but say he sometimes said irreverent things that brought scorn from classmates.

If he'd committed suicide with that same shotgun rather than use it against the bullies, no one would care and things would go on just as before. I feel sad for him, and even though I think he probably deserves some punishment, he doesn't deserve to have his life ruined.

Did he deserve to have 'his life ruined'? What about all the kids who had nothing to do with any of this other than to be in the same vicinity? Get a grip lady.


by gbl245 January 14, 2013 10:17 PM EST: You feel sad for someone who attempted premeditated mass murder??? This kid has been terrorizing the other kids in this school for well over a year. He would tell the other students how he watched Slasher movies and was going to kill them some day. This kid was/is the ultimate bully.

The Liberal legislature in California have mandated that kids attend "Bullying" assemblies in school where they attempt to convince the kids that they all have been bullied at some time, that they are all victims. They tell them that if you don't ask a kid to sit with you at lunch that you are bullying him. And now they wonder why some of these kids start believing they have been bullied and are justified in killing others.
