(AP) CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - A Bartow County school board member is free on bond after police say she hit a teenager with her SUV in a dispute over a Walmart parking space in Cartersville, about 45 miles northwest of Atlanta.

Police say the 17-year-old was standing in a parking space Friday to save it for someone.

Police say the teen and 41-year-old Angela Cornett argued before Cornett hit the girl with her car. Authorities say the incident was recorded on surveillance cameras.

Cornett told the Daily Tribune of Cartersville that she never hit the teen and said the girl leaned against her car.

The teen had a scuff mark to her knee but did not suffer any serious injuries, police said.

She slowed and saw the teen and the exchange was obvious prior to her moving her vehicle into the space and hitting the teen. It was completely intentional. She hit a young girl over a parking space. Her vehicle could have seriously injured that teen, and it didn't, but it does not mean there was not intent to harm. Wanting a parking space is not justification for what happened. She should not ever be allowed to drive a vehicle again. I don't think anyone who tries hitting someone with their car should ever be on the road behind the wheel again. At minimum she should have a 10 year revocation of her license and should be on probation for at least 10 years after her jail time to ensure she does not drive again.
