Ohio teen, Devin Carey, arrested for alleged Facebook threat after Conn. school shooting

(CBS) FINNEYTOWN, Ohio - Devin Carey, a southwest Ohio teen, was arrested for allegedly making threats on Facebook following last Friday's shooting in Newtown, Conn., CBS affiliate WKRC reports.

According to court records, Carey made a statement on a Facebook page saying he was sick of the comments already on Facebook about the Newtown shooting and wanted to shoot kids himself, WKRC reports.

The 18-year-old faces one charge of inducing panic and a Hamilton County judge set his bail at $100,000 on Monday, Cincinnati.com reports.

His next court date is Jan. 2nd.

On a radio program, a kid close to Devin said he hated kids who took up causes when he was in school calling them "posers. Sort of weird that now Devin has only to rely on the efforts of his friends to raise money to bail him out. The only real thing I find funny about this is that the "Free Devin Carey" webpage is censoring comments and whining about Devin's right to free speech. Everything else about this kid and the others like him who made the same threats is just a very sad commentary on their cyberworld-existence and how it deludes our young people when facing the consequences of living in a real world.

Although it was a stupid and disrespectful thing to say, it certainly wasn't a crime. There's a big difference between making a dark humored joke and yelling "fire" in a movie theater. To induce panic mean that i caused some sort of panic to happen publicly which i didnt do, i simply just pissed some parent off. This whole thing was a political game of police and judges trying to cover their ass because they didnt want to be the ones to let "the crazy kid" out and have this fall back on them. I dont own any guns, i would never harm a child, and i give no reason for anyone to believe that im some sort of "psychopathic killer".

Oh, and my family bailed me out, so nice try buddy.
