Separate but Equal: R.I. couple both arrested for driving drunk, same night, different towns
One Rhode Island couple might prefer to remain anonymous after both husband and wife were arrested for drunk driving on the same night, in different towns.
/ APAt 9:25 p.m., Stephanie Souza, 43, of Warwick, was pulled over on Route 95 South in Cranston and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
A short time later, a state trooper pulled over her husband, Michael Souza, 44, in Lincoln, R.I., for the same reason.
According to CBS Boston, troopers say the husband was on his way to the police barracks to pick up his jailed wife, when he was stopped.
"This particular incident is even more troubling and unbelievable that the husband of the suspect responding to a State Police Facility drove intoxicated to pick up his wife," State Police Colonel Stephen O'Donnell said.
Stephanie Souza took a breathalyzer test at the barracks, and police say her blood alcohol level was .14
Michael Souza had a blood alcohol level of .19, according to police.
Both Souzas were arraigned at the Lincoln Woods Police Barracks and released to a sober family member, CBS Boston reported.
Both Souzas have upcoming court dates.
