Connecticut School Shooting: Suspected shooter now ID'd as Adam Lanza; older brother Ryan questioned by cops

(AP) WASHINGTON - A law enforcement official says the shooter in the Newtown, Conn. school massacre is 20-year-old Adam Lanza, the son of a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School where the bloodbath occurred. A second law enforcement official says the boy's mother, Nancy Lanza, who was a teacher at the school, is presumed dead.

The first official says Adam Lanza's older brother, 24-year-old Ryan Lanza,, of Hoboken, N.J., is being questioned by police. An earlier report from a law enforcement official mistakenly transposed the brothers' first names.

Both officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record about the developing criminal investigation.

The first official said shooter Adam Lanza is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

You should not be so twisted in your beliefs so as to believe that every tragic incident has been perpetrated for political purpose. People with this type mindset are usually the perpetrators of such criminal acts.

Recognize, instead, that our schools are failing young people all over this country, and until we do something to educate the masses of our young people and not just a few, we will see more of this twisted ideology.

Even if we fail to produce honor students, we will be in a better position to recognize many who have mental problems at an early age.

Meanwhile, to suggest that this young man, who killed his own mother, did so to make a political statement is "sick and twisted" thinking on your part.; Reply to this comment

I'm appalled that no one can see through this for what it is. I know people can see all the holes. I know people can see the looks on the local cops' faces. I know there are people out there that can draw their own conclusions about the identity mix-up. I never thought that agenda would stoop this low. Right in the heart: our children. For gun control? You can have mine if I had one. Just leave our children alone. After grieving for the Twin T's , and now this? This is the most desperate attempt for an agenda I have ever seen. I'm picking up the fam and leaving the country. God bless whoever falls under this dictatorship. White America, safe quiet town, young boy in his 20's, innocent children. They really nailed America right in the heart. No wounded survivors. No video surveillance. Blocked public and press. No doubt in my mind the "messiah" is a Demon. Next comes the clean up and reassurance, whether it be emailed ordered ammunition, or some other characteristic of the pre-selected patsy. God bless all of you who lost your children for this agenda. I have prayed all day that the killers be brought to justice

Teachers and school workers in fear n emotional agony, i pray for the Holy Spirit, to come into the Hearts and Minds of those experiencing this horror. Educators talk this out with the kids. " it is a tragedy in their lives " n mine, and other readers of this event. May almighty God protect them and comfort them all the days of their lives. Suggestion...why don't you get off your rear, stop sitting at a computer spouting out your political views in the comments section of a tragic story, and GO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! You sound terribly helpless, but I am sure if you really truly cared, you would devote some time to try to make an impact. Why don't you become a political activist? Create a grassroots effort in your town to effect change through discussion with your state representatives? I'm guessing it's just easier to complain. Sad.

My condolences to the families of this tragedy. We have been thru this too many times and we must begin to address this. However, do not expect any help from republicans as they are in the pockets of the NRA and other entities hostile to ordinary Americans. Republicans must be voted out to remove their obstruction to making progress on this and other issues. Elections have consequences, and electing republicans to control congress will result in no movement to begin to address this or other issues America so desperately needs to address.; Reply to this comment
