Randy Blythe, "Lamb of God" heavy metal singer, indicted for manslaughter in Czech Republic
Randy Blythe, lead singer with the Virginia-based heavy metal band Lamb of God, in a Prague, Czech Republic courtroom; he's charged with manslaughter there over the death of a fan at a concert.
/ WTVRCBS affiliate WTVR says the charges were first reported on the Czech news website Novinky.cz.
Larry Mazer, a manager for the heavy metal band, confirmed the report and said the next step is a trial.
The report indicated the Czech court has three months to set a trial date for Blythe or determine the case needs further investigation.
Blythe, 41, is charged in connection to the death of a fan who fell from the stage during a performance and died of a head injury. He is accused of throwing the fan off the stage.
According to WTVR, Blythe was arrested this past June, two years after the incident, when Lamb of God landed at the Prague airport. He spent the next 37 days in a Czech prison, then was released on the condition that he return to the Czech Republic should he be charged with the crime.
He has been in the U.S. since then.
"I feel ethically responsible to go back there and face this charge," Blythe said in an August interview with WTVR.
Blythe faces up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted of the crime.
