Lisa Biron, N.H. lawyer with ties to conservative Christian group, arrested on child pornography charges

(CBS/AP) CONCORD, N.H. - Lisa Biron, a New Hampshire lawyer associated with coalition of Christian lawyers, was arrested on federal child pornography charges after investigators say she took a teenager to Canada where she allegedly convinced the girl to engage in sexual activity and let it be filmed, reports the Concord Monitor.

Biron, 43, was arrested by FBI agents on Nov. 16 and charged with seven counts of child exploitation, including transporting a child for illegal sexual conduct. She was also charged with manufacturing and possessing child pornography.

Biron will be held without bail until her trial, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 8.

Prosecutor Helen Fitzgibbon called for Biron to be held without bond, claiming other juveniles have been subjected to Biron's sexual activity and drug use. Witnesses have testified to seeing Biron in possession of ecstasy, marijuana and cocaine, according to the Monitor.

Police began investigating Biron on Sept. 29 after receiving a tip that she had child pornography on her computer, reports the Union Leader. Biron was first arrested by Manchester police last month on charges of possessing child pornography. When assessing the evidence, police reportedly determined the images were manufactured out of state and contacted federal authorities.

Manchester police say the videos and pictures found on Biron's computer are of a teenage girl Biron knows. The girl's name and age have not been released.

Biron has worked with the Alliance Defending Freedom, a group of attorneys known for their work against gay marriage and Planned Parenthood, but according to the ADF she was never an employee.

So many people hide behind religion and the cover story of being a good christian...I do not believe in abortion, but that is my belief, you are intitled to yours, I do believe in gay marraige...my openly gay friends are not predators. Those who hide who they are tend to be the baby raping monsters. Don't judge a religion on a few who are using it to hide, don't base a race of people on a few who do terrible things, not all christians are the same, not all white poeple should be held responsible for Ted Bundy, all people are indiviuals...bad people are gonna do bad things and good people are gonna do good things...in the end I hope this ***** gets what she deserves for preying on children; Reply to this comment

Point to it as yet another example of an anti-gay, "pro-family" Christian covering up their sexual predation? Absolutely. But the "association" with the ADF is pretty weak here. It appears that she was the local attorney who worked with them on a single case. She didn't work for them, she was involved in a single case. The ADF works just like the ACLU does in this regard, contracting with a local "cooperating attorney" to handle such cases. If an attorney in Keokuk, Iowa who once worked with the ACLU on a single case was caught doing something terrible, we would find it ridiculous if someone said that proved something bad about the ACLU; the same is true here. Hammer her, but the ADF has no real connection to this.

funny how when Brandon Baxter and his friends plot to blow up a bridge CBS conveniently leave out the fact they had ties to the Occupy movement. Agenda much?

Saying that someone "has ties" to the Occupy Movement is like saying someone has ties to Papa John's just because they bought a pizza there.
