Michael Hermes, Ohio tractor driver, pleads guilty in hay ride crash that injured 28 people

An Ohio man, Michael Hermes, has pleaded guilty to assault and operating under the influence in a hay ride crash (above) in Sandusky that injured 28 people on Oct. 22, 2011.

(CBS/AP) SANDUSKY, Ohio - A northern Ohio man has pleaded guilty in a hay ride crash that injured 28 people last year.

Investigators said Michael Hermes was under the influence on Oct. 22,  2011 when he was operating a tractor pulling several wagons before driving off the road.

State Highway Patrol troopers said there were open alcohol containers at the scene of the crash. Some of those injured had broken bones while others were just shaken up.

Hermes faces up to eight years in prison for assault and operating a vehicle under the influence. Sentencing is schedule for January.
