Alexis Wright Case: Maine judge won't block names of alleged clients of Zumba instructor accused of prostitution

(CBS) KENNEBUNK, Maine -- A Maine judge won't block the release of the names of alleged clients of Alexis Wright, a fitness instructor accused of running a prostitution operation out of her Zumba fitness studio in a southern Maine town.

Wright, 29, pleaded not guilty to 106 counts of prostitution, invasion of privacy, tax evasion and other charges for allegedly accepting money for sex and secretly videotaping her encounters. Her business partner, Mark Strong Sr., a 57-year-old insurance agent and private investigator, pleaded not guilty to 59 misdemeanor charges for his alleged role.

Kennebunk police have been issuing summons to Wright's alleged clients and said the names will be released in bi-weekly police activity reports beginning Friday.

A lawyer for two of the suspected clients tried to stop the release of the list but the judge rejected the motion late Thursday. The order was filed Friday.

Townspeople were waiting with curiosity for the release of the names. Residents said they've heard it could include lawyers, law enforcement officers and some well-known names.

Strong's attorney said he has a list of 150 people or more who were alleged customers, but that he wouldn't release the names unless they're called as witnesses if the case goes to trial.

"A List of Shame hurts the innocent."

Some things to contemplate ...

Are we all destined to suffer these same indignities? Is it fair to say they happen so often that the judicial system is willing to sweep several johns under the rug to save a few shameful moments from admissible evidence will be all tidy up as if it never happened? Is the Judicial system in this country so compassionate for the few elite, but not for the masses? People have to get a grip on the disgraces that just happen to happen in their back yard. The point is, in America all news is broadcasted and it is mostly bad. Unfortunately bad people get off judicially with some pretty damning stuff called evidence, but here we have lawyers who are willing to go to battle over protecting a couple of men who were caught with their pants down in real live video. If you have money and power, you have clout. You have the laws on your side? Are laws for the little people?

The behavior exhibited is "unsavory" to say the very least of men who consider themselves decent law abiding citizens, who apparently put themselves above the law. Behaving with the idea of deceitfulness? Who are they trying to fool anyway?

The integrity we cherish through religious and parental upbringing are all but gone? They don't exist because our values of those codes have diminished with lower standards of societal integrity. The codes that a man and a woman hold dearly when wedding have all but disappeared with the many divorces and separations. And when a marriage can sustain itself over many years, persevering is the last bastion of a marriage that can endure itself. And in the end the trusted husbands, the teachers, and even a local official who speaks for the towns people by way of politics. What does it say about the town and it's people? Are they above the law? What everyone wants is questionable when pertaining to a set of scales that seem so "Out of Balance" when it rings of some truth of "Guilty by Association".

The "Scarlet Letter", a novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne characterizes this very thing we hold sacred. The crucifying of a woman and the shame she must "Bare by donning a letter "A" for Adultery" for which she was "Caught" ... The evidence, having a child out of wedlock.

The lesson of then and now whether the story is true or not of our past history, considered the retributions if something like "Adultery" were to make their way into society of a small New England town. It is fair for the wives to not know, there husbands were unfaithful? Is it fair for the prostitute to take all the blame with her cohort in crime? Is it reasonable to say that sooner or later a cheating man will eventually get caught? Integrity, morality, and dignity share the same bench. If one does not have these qualities and they are caught with their pants down, then they deserve to take the whipping of their wickedness and their business associations, and their wives and family shall persevere.

The audacity of a few lawyers and their semi-famous clients should take notice, that laws and rules are not just for the "Little People" to adhere to, they are for everyone who is human enough to consciously break them and therefore step up to the responsibility of a "Good horse whipping" figuratively speaking.
