Jerry Sandusky: Former Penn State coach will address the court during sentencing

(CBS) BELLFONTE, Pa. - Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will address the court when he is sentenced on 45 counts of child sex abuse tomorrow.

According to the Harrisburg Patriot-News, Sandusky has been preparing his statement while behind bars since he was convicted of sexually abusing 10 boys in June.

Sandusky, 68, did not testify at his trial and has maintained his innocence. The newspaper reports that according to his attorney, Joe Amendola, Sandusky will outline his defense before the court imposes sentence tomorrow.

Because of his age, Sandusky's sentence is likely to mean he will spend the rest of his life in prison. According to the Patriot-News, eight of the 45 counts he was convicted of carry mandatory sentences - four of 10 years and four of five years - adding up to 60 years the judge has no choice but to impose.

However, if the judge chose to, he could impose those terms concurrently, giving Sandusky just 10 years behind bars, the paper reports.
