Amanda Knox guard accused of sexually harassing her now being investigated for rape, Italian newspaper reports

(CBS) An Italian newspaper reported over the weekend that the same prison official and guard who Amanda Knox accused of sexually harassing her during her first week behind bars is being investigated for rape.

"48 Hours" reveals Amanda Knox's untold story

A former prisoner told La Nazione newspaper in Florence, Italy that she was sexually assaulted in her cell during December 2006 and January 2007. The woman, described by the paper as a former traffic warden in Milan, was reportedly being held in the Capanne prison while awaiting trial on murder charges, of which she was later acquitted.

Last October, 48 Hours reported on a segment of a diary that Amanda Knox kept after being arrested for the murder of Meredith Kercher in November 2007 in Perugia, Italy.

The diary entry, first revealed to 48 Hours consultant Bob Graham, claimed that an official at the Capanne prison in Perugia had, several times, brought Knox to his office late at night and asked her about her sex partners.

La Nazione reports that the former prisoner came forward after she learned of Amanda Knox's diary entry.

La Nazione reports that the prison official denies all the allegations. His lawyer, Daniela Paccoi, told the newspaper that, regarding Amanda Knox, her client was only trying to gather useful information for the Kercher murder investigation and he never bothered Knox.

Knox's 2009 conviction for murdering Kercher was thrown out by an Italian appeals court in Oct. 2011.

I guess innocent until proven guilty only applies to the two romantic lovebirds, Knox and Sollecito? There is zero substantiation of wrongdoing on the part of this guard, and based on the La Nazione report (the alleged rape happened six years ago with no witnesses and no forensics) there isn't going to be any. The real issue is why Knox decided to leak this particular diary entry to her acolytes at 48 Hours. Undoubtedly it's because she knew that it would be sensationalized with no questions asked as to why she didn't tell her army of visitors including lawyers, family, powerful politicians, her priest, etc.

Knox's lawyers complained bitterly about her treatment and it stopped--as anyone who follows the case knows. It is fine to say that an accusation is not proof, but there is no reason to take the reflexively guard's side when two women have accused him of misconduct.
