Audrey Deen Miller, Texas woman, shot husband to protect pet cat, police say

(CBS/KHOU) HOUSTON - Police say a woman in Texas shot her husband after he threatened one of her cats.

According to CBS affiliate KHOU, 42-year-old Audrey Deen Miller has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say the incident occurred at the couple's Spring home around 7:30 a.m., KHOU reports. Miller and her husband were arguing when he threatened to shoot her cat with a pellet gun. Miller then pulled out a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and shot her husband in the stomach.

"The husband was trying to do something to the cat and the wife was just trying to protect her cat," said Assistant Police Chief Mark Herman.

Miller was arrested at the scene and her husband was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition, KHOU reports. The cat was not harmed.

My Dear Sisters: My passion is growing roses. I have won prizes for them. If anyone invades MY space, and picks or does harm to my ROSES, I've got a Boitho double-barreled 12-guage, loaded with buckshot. I'll pump the jerk so full of lead his own mother won't recognize him.

Good for her. I don't own a gun, but anyone who tried to hurt my pets would get a baseball bat to the head and any other body parts I could get at!

In her eyes he was going to shoot her baby. She put him in his place. Thats messed up on his part, but really? You're going to kill him over a cat? And he hadn't even actually done anything yet. Husband sounds like a real jerk. Sounds like she should have chosen a smaller gun for a first offense. Had he actually hurt the cat, then use the 40 caliber semi automatic!
