Dawn Brown, Fla. mother, killed her young sons then committed suicide, authorities say

(CBS/AP) CLEARWATER, Fla. - Authorities in Florida say a man found his wife and two young children dead in their home.

Pinellas County Sheriff's officials said in a statement Saturday that the investigation is still ongoing, but it appears that 34-year-old Dawn Brown killed her children and then hanged herself.

Deputies responded to the Clearwater home shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call for help from 36-year-old Murphy Brown, the father of the children.

The children's cause of death will be released pending an autopsy. No further information has been released.

Neighbor Nichole Bell told The Tampa Tribune that she spoke with Dawn Brown at a recent back-to-school open house and couldn't believe the news because Brown appeared to be "interested in her kids' educations."

by guardianx2 October 3, 2012 4:31 PM EDT: the true punishment for this woman is one none of us can imagine.. no child deservs death and by the hands of their mother must have been horifying i know thay are safe and happy now and as for their mother her brutal murders will not go witout punishment even after being a coward and taking her own life she will answer to god for this and may he have no mercy on such a terrible mistake that she will pay for through out eternity..; Reply to this comment

A very similar incident happened last year in my area, the only difference being the mother botched several suicide attempts after drowning her two babies. I believe she was sincere in her attempts to kill herself, it just didn't work out for her. The mother was sentenced for infanticide X 2.
That might not be a bad punishment; life in prison and she gets to relive killing her children as often as her warped mind lets her. Too bad we as society weren't able to revive the mother in this story. Give her the death penalty but ensure she stays i prison until she's alost dead then execute her. Then she would get to relive the killing of her children every day.
