(CBS) WINDBER, Pa. - Bobby Clifford Smith III, a Pennsylvania man, faces theft and other related charges after getting caught exchanging a toilet he did not purchase at a Somerset County home improvement store for gift cards, police say.

Smith, 32, entered the store on Aug. 28, grabbed a toilet off of the shelf and immediately went to the return line to exchange it without a receipt for $677.34 in gift cards, according to state police.

Investigators say that surveillance footage from the store captured Smith's entire scam.

The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reports that Smith was arraigned Tuesday after failing to post $30,000 bail.
