Brittni Colleps, former Texas high school, teacher found guilty in student sex case

(CBS/AP) FORT WORTH, Texas - A jury took less than an hour to convict a former Texas high school teacher charged with having sex with five 18-year-old students at her home.

According to CBS DFW, Brittni Nicole Colleps, 28, was found guilty on 16 criminal counts stemming from charges of having an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher. She now faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced.

As the verdicts were read Colleps, a wife and mother of three, stood silent, reports CBS DFW. Her husband was is the courtroom and stood silent as well.

Authorities say the former Kennedale High School English teacher had sex with the students at her Arlington home over two months. Jurors heard graphic testimony from the involved students during the trial and were shown cellphone video of one encounter involving multiple students.

Prosecutors rested their case Thursday; the defense didn't call any witnesses.

I am disappointed that I never have had the opportunity to have sex with a teacher as attractive as Brittni Colleps. These five students are idiots for revealing their sexual affair.

Personally, I think that the ONLY victim here, is the woman's husband and children. You cannot make me believe that their marriage isn't going to suffer while she'd doing time. And the kids are going to miss ther mom, and the husband will miss his wife. And within a year of her being released, (or while she is in prison) he is going to file for divorce and custody of the kids, as well he should. When I was in h.s, back in the late 50's and early '60's, we guys had sense enough to keep our mouths SHUT when we got lucky. I think these students should be the idiots going to jail as well as her.

She had no sex with children.
The law is flawed and probably due to a retarded people.
The retards in Texas have that old time religion.
As you all know Religion in the south has held the people there in a brainwashed state of control for over 150 years.

If the students were under 18, perhaps the states' case would be what I would call legitimate, but this is liken to the Mann Act.

Send to 20-year jail because of sex??!!! Are you all crazy or what? Only in the US, right? I would be glad, when I was 16 or 18 to have sex with a teacher like her. I had friends at school who had sex with older women when they were 17. After so many years, none of them seem to feel molested, or had their behavior changed because of sex. Currently, all of them are married, have children, successful in their carrier and life. Again, I'm asking once more: are you all crazy or what?

I can't believe all the people who think this kind of behavior from a HIGH SCHOOL teacher shouldn't be punished. This was GROUP SEX with kids who hadn't even graduated from high school yet. Seems to me it's all a bunch of men. I hope I didn't know any of you in high school, or ever.

Group sex, extramarital sex, sex with High School teachers, sex with anything handy... Some people do not live with a sexual focus, and don't need to. I'm not going to let you get away with saying this behavior is NORMAL, which is apparently what you want to believe. None of it's normal. None of it's decent. There's nothing frosty about it: there are darn good reasons for traditional standards of sex, dating and marriage. And because some fools want to tear down every barrier, people are losing sight of right and wrong. Morality is not an arbitrary line in the sand.

Legal adults with voting rights shouldn't be sent to prison for having sex regardless of the working/teaching relationship. You may fire them...agreed...but prison No way.
