Stuyvesant High, prestigious NYC school, rocked by alleged cheating scandal

(CBS/WCBS) NEW YORK - The Department of Education is investigating Stuyvesant High School, one of Manhattan's most prestigious public high schools, after learning of an alleged cheating incident during last week's city-wide Regents exam.
According to CBS New York, an eleventh grader was caught allegedly taking pictures of his exam answers with his cell phone and potentially sending them to over 50 classmates. The proctor reportedly found screenshots of answers to the Spanish, physics and English exams on the phone.
A DOE spokesperson said an investigation is now underway to determine whether fellow students solicited the answers, paid their alleged cheating classmate or whether he initiated the scheme himself, CBS New York reports.
The student at the center of the scandal is said to have been suspended last week and reportedly won't be returning to Stuyvesant, reports CBS New York.
