George Zimmerman jailhouse calls show couple knew they'd raised $135K when pleading poverty at bond hearing

(CBS/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - Jailhouse calls show that former Florida neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman, who's accused of murdering teenager Trayvon Martin, instructed his wife to transfer money from bank accounts before he was initially released on bond.

The calls made public by prosecutors Monday could play a crucial role in George Zimmerman's second bond hearing next week.

Zimmerman was released on $150,000 bond in April, several days after the jailhouse calls. At his bond hearing, his wife, Shellie, testified that she didn't know how much money had been raised from a website created for his legal defense and that the couple had virtually no money to pay Zimmerman's high bail.

However, prosecutors say the calls show George and Shellie Zimmerman knew that roughly $135,000 had been raised by the site.

Shellie Zimmerman was arrested last week on a charge of making a false statement.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26 in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. He has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.

What is the obsession with this lieing business?

Zimmerman never even opened his mouth at the bond hearing, yet he is a big fat liar?
It is completely possible that Trayvon Martin attacked Zimmerman. So far there has been nothing to dispute it, yet some refuse to consider the possibility. I just don't get it.

He's also guilty of money laundering and will probably be charged by the feds...so, he may not do time for murder but he could get 20 years for money laundering....and his sister is in on the deal now....what is even more hilarious is his wife who is also fat and we know she's a liar too...could get an added 5 for perjury. He was actually being STALKED by zimmerman for "looking suspicious," and you have no more proof than the Sanford Police do about who started anything that night in the rain, and whether or not zimmerman was just clumsy and slipped and fell injuring himself since he was clearly running after Trayvon.

Everything you post is clearly speculation and conjecture gleaned from the only witness alive today, and a most incredible one at that, only trying to save his butt from doing 25 years for 2nd degree MURDER!

by WileyWizard_G June 19, 2012 3:52 PM EDT: Believe it or not, there is a difference between following and stalking. If someone follows someone for a couple of minutes with the intent of asking what they are doing around there, that would be following.
If someone spends hours following their X, for the purpose of causing them harm or being obsessive about a new boyfriend or girlfriend, that would be stalking.
One is threatening and one is completely innocent.

We have absolutely no reason to believe that Zimmerman had any intention other than what not only he claims, but what Martin's girlfriend says he said when finally meeting face to face with Martin.
He wanted to know what the suspicious individual was doing in the neighborhood.

To simply assume George wanted something else is not provable.

What has suggested that Zimmerman fell down, injuring himself?
Making that assumption is ridiculous as well as unprovable.

Unfortunately, zimmerman's credibility has certainly gone down the crapper beginning with the night of the murder, and only gotten worse with the jailhouse tapes of money transfers and trying to play the victim.

If that was not the case, then his wife wouldn't have been arrested too!

by raptor-022 June 19, 2012 10:28 AM EDT: Actually, both the lead homicide detective, Chris Servino, and the appointed Special State Prosecutor, both believe that zimmerman lied from the very beginning, and his credibility has only gotten worse!

Prosecuting attorneys hate to lose, and do not bring charges they do not think they can prove, so I imagine you will be dining on crow.

Thank you so much for releasing these calls...You just guaranteed a mis-trial because of prejudicial news at a minimum..jury nullification at the other end of the scale. Verdict before the trial even starts....there are no qualified jurors that have not heard this....therefore he cannot have a fair trial...
