Ga. father Keith Furlow charged with murder for allegedly feeding his baby daughter vodka, DA says

(CBS/AP) STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - A grand jury has indicted Keith Furlow in the death of his 4-month-old daughter after he allegedly fed her a bottle filled with baby formula and vodka on June 8, CBS Atlanta reports.

The DeKalb County District Attorney's Office said Furlow was indicted Thursday on second-degree charges of felony murder and cruelty to children after being accused of providing his infant daughter the alcoholic formula last year at their home in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Furlow's daughter was pronounced dead at Egleston Children's Hospital. A toxicology report confirmed a blood alcohol concentration level of .1119.

DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James told CBS Atlanta that the infant's death is inexcusable.

"It is an unconscionable act," James said. "It's a terrible thing and we are going to do our best to bring about a just resolution to this matter."

IF THE DEATH PENALTY WAS USED MORE OFTEN IN ALL STATES...CRIME WOULD DROP QUICKLY. As it is now, no one is scared of prison because of all the rights and luxuries one can recieve in there. In most cases it's probably a step up from where they live now!

by well_I_say June 19, 2012 8:56 AM EDT: Must be why Texas has so few crimes. (eyes roll). The death penalty does not stop crime. These criminal don't think they will get caught, period. Killing a murderer barely makes a dent in the cesspool of criminals. With or without years of appeals we run the risk of killing innocent people because let's face it overzealous lawyers could make my grandmother look like a murderer. And of course, the right lawyer could get this guy off scot-free. Fairness would mean killing all convicted murderers or none. Do you want to flip the switch on the wrongly accused in that bunch?
