Ohio teen, boyfriend charged in alleged plot to kill her parents

(CBS/WBNS) GAHANNA, Ohio - A 16-year-old Ohio girl and her 20-year-old boyfriend are accused of attempted murder in an alleged plot to kill the teen's parents.

Grace Dillman and Robert Best are both charged with attempted murder in the botched attack, which occurred Wednesday night, reports CBS affiliate WBNS. Best is also charged with attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault.

Court records accuse Dillman of plotting the killing last month. Dillman allegedly planned to have her boyfriend slit her parents' throats while they slept in their suburban Columbus home, WBNS reports.

According to court records, Dillman's father, Alan Dillman, woke up as the couple attempted to carry out their plot on Wednesday, the station reports. Best allegedly stabbed Dillman in the back during an ensuing struggle.

Police reportedly say Dillman disapproved of his daughter's relationship with Best because of their age difference. Police say the relationship began online when Grace Dillman was 13.

Best was ordered held under $500,000 bond Thursday.

See....I would never fathom to do something like this...why? because I got whipins with a belt if I even talked back. I can gaurentee you I stopped before doing something stupid to comprehend the consequences (the belt) of my actions,the chances that I would repeat an offense was rare. I am now 23 and most people, if asked, would say I have a good head on m shoulders, am kind hearted, independent and strong. I am not sorry to say that my son gets a spanken. He is only 2 but those who know how kids work, know that they have their own little way of pushing boundries. They understand the word "no". For example: When my son climbs up on the tables, I will tell him to get down once (sometimes twice) if he does not listen then he gets a spanking...I hate to do it but after it is done he wont even look at the coffee table contemplate getting on it again.

Spanking is nothing but a LAZY excuse for discipline! Actual EFFECTIVE discipline takes a little more time and doesn't create hostilities in the child. As an example, my youngest son (now 21) has never been in a physical fight - including with his brother! He's hardly a wimp and skateboards regularly with his friends when he's not working or making music. He didn't get his driver's license until he was 18 (a mutual agreement between him and I - all part of discipline!). He doesn't drink except an occasional beer and my sons and I have a very good relationship. My oldest son is an OIF veteran (mentally disabled from combat) but works more hours per day trying to overcome the challenges and building websites since he doesn't receive VA disability. My sisters (now deceased) and I received spankings as children and all it did was to encourage us to hit each other often - and this has been PROVEN to be true of children who are spanked! There are NO benefits to 'spanking'! NONE! Use your head instead of your hands, fists, paddles, etc. I'll guarantee you'll have a kid much more respective of others AND themselves (spanking is also a humiliating punishment!). I know full well many people will come on here disagreeing but it's only because you're too lazy to be a GOOD parent. Stop being a bully and be a parent!

by djseavy June 15, 2012 8:14 AM EDT: I have two sons who've just reached adulthood, and neither one of them gave me a bit of trouble. They're well-rounded, honest, and hardworking young adults. They knew what was expected of them as they were growing up, and they did it. A good friend of mine has a son and a daughter, and they tell me the daughter is a holy terror at the ripe old age of 12. She finally came out and told them she knows she can have them locked up for abuse at any time, and if she doesn't get her way, she'll claim both severely sexually abused her. You can thank the legal system and all these whining "victims" advocates groups for this. Girls know full well they are in control, lest their parents lives be torn a part, and the system goes right along with it. So you now have them trying to kill their parents because they can't behave like hookers before they even have their first period. It's sickening, but nothing will change. So long as they're made to believe they are victims of something - anything - from the moment they're born, this will continue to happen. If I had a snot-nosed daughter like little Ms. Dillman, I probably would be locked up for abuse, because she'd get her butt whipped when she started trying to run the show. Of course all the bleeding-hearts will diapprove of that, because we wouldn't want to straighten out our kids before they try to kill us. That would be unfair to the kid and they'd be traumatized. BALONEY. Bring back good old fashioned discipline and a lot of this crap would stop. You watch - some idiot therapist will make her out to be a victim, and it will all be pinned on her slimeball boyfriend. She'll be pampered and he will go to prison for life. I agree that she should be right there with him. She's no more a victim than he is, but when it's all said and done, that's how it will turn out, and again, the courts will go right along with it - even condoning it.
