(CBS/KTVA) ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Police in Alaska arrested a 25-year-old Anchorage woman Saturday  on murder and arson charges for allegedly burning her roommate to death.

CBS affiliate KTVA reports Gina Virgilio is accused of throwing gasoline on 24-year-old Michael Gonzales while he slept on a couch in the apartment they shared, then igniting the fire and fleeing.

The fire reportedly destroyed the apartment and forced the evacuation of 18 other apartments, with some suffering smoke damage. Several neighbors were taken to hospitals for smoke inhalation.

Virgilio is charged with first-degree murder, first-and second-degree arson, first and third-degree criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and fourth-degree assault, KTVA reports.
