Creflo Dollar, Megachurch pastor, arrested for battery

(CBS) FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia police arrested Reverend Creflo Dollar, the well-known pastor of an Atlanta megachurch, for physically assaulting his teenage daughter, CBS Atlanta reports.

Fayette County deputies took the 50-year-old pastor into custody from his home on Thursday night for allegedly "intentionally caused physical harm to his teenage daughter by grabbing her around the neck and choking her," according to FOX 5 News.

An arrest warrant stated that the assault caused a scratch on the right side of the 15-year-old's throat. The report alleged Dollar then threw her to the ground, punched her and hit her with his shoe, CBS Atlanta reports.

The pastor told police his daughter "became very disrespectful" after he told her she couldn't go to the party, according to the report. He admitted to spanking his daughter and wrestling her to the floor but said it was because she hit him.

Dollar is the founder and leader of the non-denominational World Changers Church International based in Fulton County, Ga. The megachurch reporteldy generates tens of millions of dollars each year, FOX 5 News reports.

He was reportedly released on a $5,000 bond on Friday.

i totaly support pastor dollar, it is scriptural to discipline a child, and the lack there of today is why this kind of thing is happening. we live in a society of young teens thinking,and knowing the law is on their side.in my day growing up,i had many whippings and am thankful for every one. so called spanking and time out were unheard of.many great men of the bible were attacked and suffered for doing the right thing, the LORD said these things would happen.so when people that do not know anything about the bible start high fiving the authorities for a job well done, those people will be the first to be irate when some of these reckless,undisiplined teens break into their home and rob them or worse. that is when they will say, "where were the parents when they were growing up" sorry folks, you cant have it both ways. well done,pastor dollar.

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that make us ask, "Why did I do that?" I have no doubt that Pastor Dollar is a good father. Satan probably thinks he can keep a good man down but we know that God can turn things that were meant for bad into something good. Maybe someone in that police station needs saving. Look out officers, maybe he went for you:)

Where was the Lord in all this, Creflo Dollar?? It's amazing how preachers will preach about Jesus being the first one to call on but they're the ones who don't practice what they preach. Why wasn't God brought into this situation before it got so out of hand?? Seem like Satan was in that house even before this incident happen.
At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow. Creflo used worldly resources, anger and violence, not God!

Pastor, Creflo Dollar had every right to spank his 15 year old daughter and wrestle her to the ground especially for hitting him. The daughter was very out of line for doing that and I would have done the same thing if I had a 15 yr old daughter. These kids these days need to understand obedience. When the parent lay down the rules, the children is obligated to obey first and foremost. God gave specific instructions that children obey your mother and father that you may live a long time on the earth...and when they don't obey, discipline them and show them correction. When children feels that they no longer have to obey their parents and do whatever they want to do, then it's time for them to leave and get their own place to live. The government needs to stay out of family affairs when it comes to children disobeying their parents and being corrected for it. If we don't discipline our children and correct them, how are we suppose to teach them right from wrong?? In my opinion the main reason why children end up in jail or expelled from school is because there is a lack of discipline in the family and some parents let their kids do whatever they want. When kids disobey they should be punished, and one form of that punishment should be getting spanke... It's part of teaching that child discipline. Doesn't animals discipline their young when they get out of line?? And God himself says "don't spoil the rod." Discipline your children and use correction over them." Pastor Dollar, you've done the right thing.

He had every right to discipline her and if she lashed out at him, she DESERVED what she got! And the bible does say that we are to discipline our children if they are disobedient: If you spare the rod, you spoil the child!!!

I am a parent/grandparent and have NO PROBLEMS with what this man did! When my son was around her age, I had to use discipline him just like this man did to show him who was the PARENT AND IN CHARGE!! I would not and will not tolerate any child (mine or anyone else's) to disrespect me in any way, shape or form!!

Regardless of his status, he's a PARENT FIRST! He's suppose to discipline his children (now that's setting an example!) when they get out of line. The government has given to much levy to these knuckleheads we call children. There is a difference between abuse and disciplining. But because these kids know that the government is on "their" side, they are taking this law to the extreme and it's gotten out of control. Law officers should know the difference between the two when the make those house calls. I think they just wanted to assasinate this man's character just because of who he is. I SUPPORT DR. CREFLO DOLLAR FOR DISCIPLINING HIS DISRESPECTFUL, DISOBEDIENT DAUGHTER!

Just because it's your child doesn't give anyone the right to lay their hands on them. Period. Why is this so difficult for some people to understand. He claims the Devil is on the attack, however, we say, it is an opportunity for him(because he has such a large following)to change the laws that will prevent government from interfering with a family matter, such as this. We highly doubt this is domestic violence matter(which police should use more common sense when dealing with these type of matters)but do believe this is a teen who wants her way at any cost.

So, we say to Rev Dollar, be the spokes person and show leadership, first by suing the GPD(false arrest)and then by leading to change such outrageous laws.

I know the teen years are difficult, but any parent that thinks they need to spank a 15 year in order to control them is way off the mark. If this girl was violent towards Dollar as he claims, she learned that behavior from him. I raised a child as a single parent and she was a handful, in fact I swore she didn't join the human race until she graduated from college as she was very problematic, but there were NEVER any violent physical confrontations in our home.

I spanked my 15 year old son, not often but there came a situation where all else had failed, and thank God he joined the human race way before graduating from college. Different people respond to different tactics and what works for one may not work for another and vice versa. We should all be careful not to point a finger at others because when we do we point three fingers at ourselves. You say it seemed like your daughter did not join the human race until she graduated college and she was very problematic, is that what she learned from you? I doubt it. Based on the fact that your daughter was disciplined enough to finish college I must assume you did something right and I salute you for it. It is hard enough to raise an intelligent, respectful person in a two parent home I can't imagine doing it solo. We all need to remember that whenever there is one incident with multiple interpretations of what happened the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

Heard about this and had to chime in. Not a fan of megachurches, too many people means the pastor cannot actually minister individually to each of his flock, and the type of money generated by these churches will ultimately lead to monetary improprieties. With that said, I am leaning to the Rev. Kids today will lie and do anything to get what they want and if that means Daddy goes to jail, so be it, all for the sake of a good time he did not want her to have for his personal reasons, which is good enough for me. Don't agree with choking the kid but it could be as he said, she jumped him and he reacted, again totally within the realm of possibility. A sane adult, which I think Dollar is, would not just jump a kid, let alone his own, without some sort of physical provocation and verbal jostling is not enough. Not a good time to be a parent with a lot of rules stacked against them.

I believe Creflo Dollar had trouble with an out of control, party crazy, Satan inspired, "do your own will is the whole of the law", says Aleister Crowley, in the satanic doctrine... Dollar's daughter is possessed with way of Satan's doctrine. Pray for Creflo, as he's attacked by Satan's demons (the Illuminati, ACLU inspired government)... Pray for the daughter's deliverance.
