(CBS/AP) NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Former Rutgers University student Dharun Ravi was driven off to jail Thursday afternoon to serve his sentence for using a webcam to spy on his gay roommate, Tyler Clementi.

The twenty-year-old Ravi arrived at the sheriff's department in New Brunswick, N.J., just after 12:30 p.m. to be fingerprinted and photographed. Then he was driven to the county jail to serve his 30-day term.

He was dressed in a T-shirt, khakis and canvas sneakers. His father and two attorneys hugged him before leaving the sheriff's department.

Ravi's roommate, Tyler Clementi, committed suicide in September 2010, days after used a webcam to watch him kissing another man.

Ravi could have remained free while prosecutors appeal his sentence, but agreed Wednesday to serve his jail sentence now.

He was dressed in a T-shirt, khakis and canvas sneakers when her arrived to be b booked into jail. His father and two attorneys hugged him before he left the sheriff's department to be locked up.

OMG, WHAT IS WITH THESE PEOPLE??? Supporters??? Where were Tyler's supporters? Oh, that's right; they're in mourning. It's not a case of race, look at all those people who are asking for Justice on behalf of Ravi, are you freaking kidding me??!! This is not about your country [even though you now Live in America] this is about the actions of this man that lead to another man's death. What was his point in spying and broadcasting Tyler's intimate moments? He was motivated BY HATE and should be punished to the Full Extent of the Law!!! 30 Days is a slap in the face to the poor Clementi's.

Unfortunately Tyler was too sensitive for his own good. Apparently it is perfectly fine in your book to destroy what's left of the life of this young man (I'm sure he is marked for his life - think what pops up when his potential employers Google him even 10 years from now), who like many of us at age were immature ... living in this country doesn't mean acceding to your stupid opinions. Did you/forefathers do that for the natives?
