Gun used in Oikos University shooting rampage was bought legally, police say

(CBS/AP) OAKLAND, Calif. - Police say the gun used in a shooting rampage at Oikos University Monday in California was purchased legally six weeks ago.

Oakland police Chief Howard Jordan says authorities are still searching for the semiautomatic handgun used by 43-year-old One Goh during the attack. However, they have determined that Goh bought the weapon in early to mid-February.

Goh began planning the attack sometime after his expulsion from the school in mid-January, Jordan explained.

According to police, Goh was angry about the expulsion and was targeting a female administrator Monday morning. When he learned she wasn't there, he began to open fire, killing seven people.

Jordan says Goh also had been upset about teasing from classmates over his poor English skills.

People not born in the US need to go through a longer and more stringent firearm application process.

As for US citizens I think all handguns and powerful sniper rifles should be banned, also sub-assault rifles.

If I was King of the US I'd do what Switzerland does and ban all private sales of all firearms but single-shot and pump hunting rifles and shotguns which would require special permits. Issue each household the current military assault rifle and ammo, and require at least one person in each household to attend and pass a gun test, both on the range and in the classroom. America would be a great nation once again if we COULD have a system like that. Our gun culture totally reflects on our current state of wellness. There is so much anger, envy, unfairness, corruption,poverty, disrespect and lack of basic morals in our nation now, it's become condoned, it's become the norm, and it's destroying us.

The gunman is too blame, but the system and society we have created were his conspirators. We have failed as a nation at just about everything.

So we should give the drunk who plows his car into a family and kills them all an excuse?

It's the fault of the system for allowing him to buy alcohol in the first place. RIIIIGHT
