Infant killed after shots fired into Detroit home

(CBS/AP) DETROIT - Police say a 9-month-old boy was killed when shots were fired into a Detroit home early Monday.

Detroit Police Sgt. Gary Diaz says the infant was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Diaz says the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Detroit's west side. He said shell casings were found outside the home and the shots could have been fired from a moving car.

A witness told investigators a car sped away after the shooting.

So far, no arrests have been made. Police have not given anymore details at this time about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

I can't help but think the family was involved someway, whether by knowing the person or some conflict somewhere. To me most people who do these things shoot at anybody and everybody, not just one.

by pak31 February 20, 2012 10:20 PM EST: Do we know they shot directly at that baby? It sounds like the article says it could have been done from a moving car. It DOES sound like they were shooting at anybody and the baby was the one who got hit.
