Prosecutor Dave Chapman directed a parade of medical and forensic experts to the stand on Tuesday in Huguely's first-degree murder trial. The prosecution, after a week of testimony and nearly 40 witnesses, is expected to rest on Wednesday, making way for Huguely's defense.
The 24-year-old defendant is accused in the May 2010 slaying of Love, a 22-year-old from suburban Baltimore.
The prosecution says Huguely had a violent encounter with Love in her bedroom that left her bruised, battered and dead. The official cause of death is blunt force trauma.
The defense claims Love's death was accidental. Huguely has pleaded innocent.
