Two Columbine High School students injured in hammer attack

(CBS/AP) LITTLETON, Colo. - Two students were injured in a hammer attack by another student at suburban Denver's Columbine High School, scene of one of the worst school attacks in U.S. history over a decade ago.

Jefferson County sheriff's spokeswoman Jacki Kelley says the hammer attack occurred Monday morning at the Littleton school. A 14-year-old female suspect was arrested and faces assault charges, according to CBS Denver.

The station said the victims sustained minor injuries.

School officials referred calls to the district, which declined to comment, saying the attack remains under investigation.

On April 20, 1999, Columbine students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire killing 12 classmates and a teacher and wounding 26 others, before killing themselves in the school's library.

by ahendryx819 February 14, 2012 4:43 PM EST: The state of Colorado doesn't care about any type of violent crime. You can choose to take someone's life down there and have to only serve maybe 5 years, even if the police and medical examiners are willing to testify that a clear homicide has taken place. 2. What makes people think anything has changed since 1999, just because its Columbine High School? I figure that the same stuff which caused Harris and Klebold to have such murderous rage has been going on there since the day the school re-opened after the shootings. Teenagers are gonna be teenagers.
