Traffic stop leads to 9 arrests and $1 million marijuana stash bust

(CBS) LANCASTER, Calif. - Authorities said a routine traffic stop last week led police to nine arrests and an estimated $1 million worth of marijuana.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies pulled over Harry Kaladjian, 29, at around 2 a.m. Thursday. Law enforcement officials found Kaladjian was driving with a suspended license and was on active probation.

The Los Angeles Times reports because he was on probation, authorities went to his home for a compliance check. Upon arriving, they found a large-scale operation for growing marijuana. Police said several rooms had been converted into growing areas with planting beds and artificial lighting. There were around 800 plants in his home.

Authorities recovered several large plastic bags full of marijuana that had been processed and found an area made for processing "hash oil," a thick liquid made from the plant.

In total, police said the cache had an estimated street value of $1 million. The find led to eight more arrests.

I hope that they bust everyone that trys to get drugs to others. If I were on a drug task force I would be busting people that had only one joint!

by thewatcherone February 14, 2012 4:11 PM EST: You're an idiot and your attitude is a big reason why the War On Drugs is a complete failure. Sounds more like jealousy to me. While I think large scale marijuana growers need to be punished, small personal marijuana grows should be legal. And if I was a cop, I'd do both the tax-payers and the suspects a favor and I would just confiscate that joint and send them on their way. It's thinking such as yours that creates more problem and less solutions.
