Cops: Christian metal singer used Facebook, Myspace, to prey on underage girls

(CBS) MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio - The lead singer of a Christian metal band is accused of having sex with an underage girl, and he's believed to have used Facebook and Myspace to contact other possible victims.

CBS Cleveland reports 24-year-old Derek Brunsveld, the lead singer of the group Ludlow Falls, was arrested Friday.

Police believe it is unlikely his alleged victim was his first and suspect Brunsveld used his status in the popular band to convince other young girls to have sex with him. They say a 15-year-old and 14-year-old may have been victimized as well.

Brunsveld allegedly used Facebook and Myspace to contact his potential victims. Police said a school resource officer brought the issue to their attention when he heard the allegations from students and staff.

Since his arrest, Brunsveld is no longer the lead singer of Ludlow Falls, according to its Facebook page.

Brunsveld is in jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is expected in court later this week.

by xlevijpcombsx February 9, 2012 2:45 AM EST: They weren't a Christian metal band, they NEVER labeled themselves that. He was the only member in the band that called himself a Christian. Now that people are getting their crap wrong, other people are assuming incorrect information and they're labeling the whole group with something that has nothing to do with them. Derek's actions do not speak for the whole group. Because of all the crap that's happened, they're changing the name of the band. What he did was sick and no doubt it was dumb, but we need to leave Ludlow Falls out of this. With the exception of Derek, these are the coolest and nicest dudes you could ever meet.; Reply to this comment
