Okla. home intruder Dustin Stewart out on bond, victim Sarah McKinley, "ready, waiting, and watching"

(CBS) BLANCHARD, Okla. - The man who survived an attempted New Year's Eve break-in at the home of teen mom Sarah McKinley was released on bond Thursday.

According to CBS affiliate KWTV, Dustin Stewart, 29, has been charged with murder for his role in the botched break-in which resulted in McKinley shooting and killing his alleged accomplice, Justin Martin, 24.

Stewart and his family declined to talk to local reporters, but a local resident told the station that he thinks it's "unfortunate" that a man who didn't pull the trigger is charged with murder.

"[The charge] seems a little serious ... but that's the rule," Blanchard resident Dean Oxley said. "You got to play by the game."

McKinley, who was on the phone with a 911 operator while the two men allegedly tried to break into the home she shared with her three-month old son, said the news of Stewart's release made her nervous. She said she carries a gun now and is "ready, waiting and watching."

McKinley shot and killed Martin when he broke through her front door.

"They made a decision to break into my house, and I made a decision that was right for me," McKinley said.

by babydriver57 January 6, 2012 9:55 PM EST: I very seriously doubt this man will be any danger to the young mother. He may have been doped up at the time but sobered up quickly with the gunfire and realized he was on the wrong path.

He did turn himself in. Think why. I believe he realized he had made a major mistake and had helped put the woman and her baby in danger and got his (friend?) killed. I feel confident he is very happy he was not the first through the door.

Irrespective, he must know this woman will sooner shoot him than look at him and will stay very far away from her. What is his record. Has he been a felon before?

He chose to play the crimes game, now it's time to man up and face the consequences .. perhaps you are not familiar with that concept?? It's also called ... "Justice" for the actual victims and those of us in the community who must endure every day the fear of these WASTED PIECES OF HUMAN FLESH and costs having to deal with them. Not a contributing member of society!

He ought to be this very instant...held without bail because he represents a clear and present danger to his victim while not in custody.

It's bad enough law enforcement has to go through what they do to apprehend such kind....but no...somebody or a bondsmen bonded this.
