Two Navy officers, sister, among four dead in New Year's California condo shooting
Police found four people dead Sunday at this Coronado, Calif. condominium.
(Credit: KFMB)The Los Angeles Times reports that David Reis, 25, and his sister, Karen Reis, 24, were found dead in the condominium New Years Day. The identity of the second Navy officer and the fourth person killed remain undisclosed.
Navy Pilot David Reis was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and held a mechanical engineering degree from the University of New Mexico. Karen Reis graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2009 and was coaching high school volleyball and working at a grocery store.
It was not immediately clear how the siblings and the other victims died but police said they did not believe there were any outstanding suspects.
Authorities found a dead man in the doorway to the three-story condo, and the bodies of two men and a woman inside different parts of the building after neighbors reported hearing gunshots at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
"It's still a shocker," said Rebecca Bailey, who played college volleyball with Karen Reis. "This kind of thing doesn't happen to people like her and David. Their family is the family everybody wants to be part of. They're just so loving, and there's so much love in their family."
Homicide detective Larry Nesbit said there are no suspects considered at large. No motive for the shooting has been revealed.
