(CBS/WLTX/AP) DARLINGTON, S.C. - Police have arrested 36-year-old South Carolina teacher Carole Ann Hope, after she allegedly had sex with a former middle school student.

The Darlington County Detention Center says deputies arrested Hope on charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act on a minor.

Arrest warrants from the State Law Enforcement Division accuse Hope of having sex with the 14-year-old boy at her Hartsville home and at a hotel in Horry County between March 1 and Oct. 31.

One of the warrants says Hope met the teen while teaching seventh-grade math at New Heights Middle School in Jefferson.

According to CBS affiliate WLTX, Chesterfield County School District Spokesman Ken Buck says Hope has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation.

I seriously dont see Mrs. Hope doing this and plus you arrest her but where is the proof of her doing this to the minor you know if you dont have any proof you have seriously screwed yourself because you have violated her constitutional rights and from all the information i have received there is no proof.

See this link to see her offense in 1996 - she had pre-trial intervention, so no real record. I agree 110%. I know people who are good teachers, with a strong work ethic and personal integrity. However, they chose to go into the private sector specifically because they hate how unions attract low quality, corrupt individuals. Unions discourage excellent and foster laziness. Unions do nothing to help improve the quality of one's work, and instead give lazy and incompetent workers the same raise and benefits as every other worker. My husband was threatened many times by union workers, telling him he was doing his job too well and making others look bad. This is a huge part of what is wrong in the world today.

100 years ago unions helped stop child labor abuse, and helped gain fair conditions in otherwise terrible situations. But those days are long gone, yet unions continue. They are in it for the money, and they extort undeserved benefits from taxpayers.

Union mentality is a large part of why the OWS protesters believe that "rich people" should simply give up with they have worked for. People unwilling or unable to succeed feel that they are "owed" a better life. And because lying scumbag politicians who want to divide us against each other keep telling them that "rich people" don't deserve their wealth and "the 99%" deserves to be supported. America is collapsing, and our enemies are loving it. They help fund things like OWS, and they send in paid instigators to cause trouble, knowing it will help harm America.

As stated by others, teachers should be held to the highest standards. But teacher's unions attract lazy selfish people and repel those with personal integrity and a desire to be successful. And "successful" does NOT equate to wealth in any way. Being a successful teacher means you have helped mentor your students, preparing them for their role in life as responsible citizens. Today more than ever, with an abundance of single parent homes where siblings often all have different fathers, teachers much help the children. We should not tolerate teachers who use and/or abuse the children for selfish purposes.; Reply to this comment

Our children aren't safe in our schools any more. They must be protected. Teachers who betray the public trust need to do some serious hard time.

when i was a kid in the '60's teachers were held in high regard by students and parents alike. they were dedicated to education, they commanded the respect of their students and got it. unfortunately somewhere along the way teaching became just another union job.
