Antoinette Davis, Mom Accused of Selling Shaniya Davis as Sex Slave, is Pregnant Again

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Antoinette Nicole Davis, the woman accused of selling her 5-year-old daughter, Shaniya Davis, into sexual slavery before the girl was murdered, has got an unnerving surprise. She's pregnant again and carrying the baby while sitting in a North Carolina prison and awaiting a potential trial.

Thus far, Antoinette Davis has been charged with human trafficking. Arrest documents said she "knowingly provide[d] Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude" and she "permit[ted] an act of prostitution." Fayetteville, N.C. police have not yet said if those charges will be amended to include murder.

Shaniya Davis was found dead Monday as searchers discovered the girl's body off a rural road in Sanford, N.C., around 30 miles from her Fayetteville home. The discovery brought a gruesome end to a week-long search carried about by hundreds of officers and volunteers. Antoinette Davis reported her daughter missing Nov. 10.

News of Antoinette Davis' pregnancy comes from her aunt, Leona Cromertie, who also said Sunday that her niece has a second child who is now seven.

Cromertie, who believes in her niece's innocence, says that Antoinette Davis, 25, was dating Clarence D. Coe at the time, the man whom Antoinette Davis initially accused of kidnapping Shaniya Davis, according to The Fayetteville Observer.

Police investigated Coe, but he was quickly let go as hotel surveillance video surfaced last Tuesday showing another man, Mario Andrette McNeill, carrying Shaniya Davis through a hallway of the Comfort Suites hotel in Sanford, N.C., about 40 minutes from Raleigh.

McNeill, 29, has so far been charged with kidnapping. Police claim he admitted taking the girl, but his lawyer, Allen Rogers, said he will plead not guilty. Either way, Fayetteville police said he was of no help in finding Shaniya Davis.

On Monday, Antoinette Davis was calm and quiet during a court appearance. She provided one-word answers to the judge's questions. She requested a court-appointed attorney and did not enter a plea.

Her sister, Brenda Davis, 20, said she does not believe the charges.

"I don't believe she could hurt her children," said Brenda Davis, who spoke with her sister at the jail Sunday. Antoinette Davis' aunt, Yvonne Mitchell, said the mother had two jobs and would never harm the child.

Fayetteville police spokeswoman Theresa Chance declined to talk about additional charges. She also wouldn't comment on a cause of death or the condition of Shaniya's body.

Antoinette Davis only recently took custody of Shaniya Davis, according to the child's father Bradley Lockhart, who said he raised her for the first four years of her life.

Lockhart described his relationship with Davis as a "one-night stand" and said he did not know McNeill.

Davis struggled financially over the years, but she recently got a job and her own place, so Lockhart said he decided to give her a chance with their daughter.

"I should've never let her go over there," he told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Thats on **** off and number 2. She got two jobs well what was she doing when shaniyah was taken. they dont say nothin bout that.I am with you dad try to give people a chance and they always mess it up. I just can't believe someone would willingly give their child away...and the magnitude of this case is heartbreaking. That surveillance video sends chills up my spine, McNeill seems so nonchalant which is sickening. I believe that BOTH the mother and McNeeill should be punished at the full extent of the law. I pray that the judicial system doesn't fail Shaniya and her family as it has with several other child abuse/trafficking/neglect&murder cases. If the senences for such crimes were extended(rather than executed on petty crimes) the REAL criminals (rappists, murderers, child abusers ect) could be punished; Reply to this comment

I agree with all of you about the new baby being taken into adoption. She doesn't need to have the option of raising another child. If she doesn't pay here on earth which I believe she will, remember she has to answer to GOD. For that punk ass dude, that raped and allowed her to be raped and murdered her, he needs the death penalty. I hope that prison justice works on him, Somebody needs to rape his ass and then torture/murder him. I believe that the judge in there cases will make sure they suffer. She should get the baby taken out of her when it comes and then she shouldnt be able to see the baby at alll i knew this little girl and she was a great kid i cant believe her mom did that. She clinged to me so much but its sad that a little girl is gone that mom should have known better. But i think the next baby shoud be taken away for her before anything happens to it and that it gets placed into a perfect family that wont do any ******** like this to it. I think the dad does regret not just keeping Shaniya. Shaniya was one gorgeous little girl and her smile made me always happy. I will always keep Shaniya and her father in my mind and prayers. by andimaggie December 12, 2009 5:30 PM EST: What should happen to the unborn child of this evil, malicious, hell-bound woman? The newborn should be immediately removed from the mother as soon as he/she enters the world. The mother should not under any circumstances be able to see her child for a moment. The state should then find an adoptive home for this precious baby far and away from any remnants of her biological mother's true identity! Unfortunately, this waste will have to be found guilty in a court of law before any legal action regarding this unborn will be able to proceed. Remember, innocent until proven guilty!!!! I have no doubt that she is the most complicit in this heinous crime and that she will be found guilty but what will happen to the new baby in the interim. She will probably be placed with a family member which I believe to be unhealthy considering all her family is supporting and maintaining her innocence. God Bless this new forthcoming angel and may its life be full of happiness and joy. As for the participants, including the pedophiles, the devil is waiting with special treats for you in hell!! She's scum, and I hope all the individual's who commited the crime or anyone who was an accomplice get's what's coming to them. I seriously feel that they will have they're time in jail, when they will be somoeone's partner without having a choice! It disgusts me that people can be so cold especially to a child.
