BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS/AP) Susan Finkelstein, the fanatic Phillies fan accused of offering sex for World Series tickets, was just trying to score seats so she and her husband could go to a game, her lawyer told a Pennsylvania paper.

He also said Finkelstein did nothing illegal.

Investigators say Finkelstein posted an ad on the classifieds Web site Craigslist that stated she was a die-hard Phillies fan and "buxom blonde" who was willing to get "creative" when it came down to payment.

An undercover officer responded to the ad and claims he met with the 43-year-old woman at a bar and she offered to perform various sex acts in exchange for tickets.

The officer explained he only had one ticket, but said his brother may have a second, Bensalem Public Safety Director Fred Harran told the New York Post. Finkelstein "offered to take care of them both," he said.

She was then handcuffed, and later charged with prostitution and related offenses, say police.

"It was really quick," Harran said to the Burlington County Times. "She just said how much of a Phillies fan she was and that this was the first time she ever did anything like that."

But Finkelstein's lawyer says this is much ado about nothing.

"You're talking about a 43-year-old woman who was overcome by Phillies fever," her attorney William Brennan said according to the Burlington County Times. "All she was looking to do was take her husband to a World Series game. You know that Madonna movie 'Desperately Seeking Susan'? This was 'Susan Desperately Seeking.'"

Asked why she listed herself as a "buxom blonde," her lawyer told the paper, "I guess if she put 'little bridge troll' nobody would respond."

Brennan denied the prostitution allegations and says nothing in the Craigslist posting amounts to illegal behavior and that the Phillies fan is just misunderstood. He says there was no offer of sex for tickets.

"I guess she was going to work out what the terms for the tickets were," he said according to the Burlington County Times. "It was a variation of 'will work for food.' It doesn't mean she was a prostitute.'"

I feel sooo much safer with her off the streets. Glad to hear the police are wisely using their time and resources going after these dangerous criminals.
Gotta go...I just saw a pedestrian ignore a "do not walk" sign...chaos is breaking out.

If I were a judge asked to hear this case, I would fine the prosecutor who brought it into my court and use my influence to have those cops fired.

Consensual *crimes* are a waste of time, money and effort. Do YOU really want to pay to jail, feed and provide medical care for that woman who would otherwise support herself and be a contributing member of society?

Her arrest is an inexcusable stupidity! Consensual acts between adults are no one*s business but theirs!

This outrage is religious law being enforced by civil authority and it makes us no better than Saudi Arabia. Religious police are Un-American!

A pox on those stupid cops and the bible thumpers who insist religious law be imposed by gun toting, badge wearing thugs, on the non-superstitious!

That's why you will never be a judge.
BTW, where is religion mentioned in the story?

What he means by religious law is this a moral crime which should not be policed by our government. Your god should punish you.

I actually asked a few girls if they would do that for their hubby and only one said yes, but the tickets would be for her! Die hard Yanks fan. I can't believe people have that little respect for themselves. And we wonder what's wrong with the kids today.......Their parents are retarded! I wouldn't give my goods up for some steroid junkie with a ball and a bat no matter how much my hubby loved the game.

Only one site allows you to trade anything with anyone, anywhere - BarterQuest. She should post herself as a service (probably not as goods?)and match herself and her wants with those of someone else. There's already some great stuff on the site! check it out http://barterquest.com

give her the tickets! I think prostitution should be legalized and we wouldnt have many sex crimes. If people would spend more time getting off than making war the world would be a better place!

I do agree with you. But as long as prostitution is illegal in the U.S., the plice are supposed to do their thing...
by missme4 October 30, 2009 10:40 PM EDT
@gerdemento

Hey genius. If it is illegal in the US then why is the federal government running the major ***** houses in Nevada? The government only wants you to think prostitution is bad so they can collect more money from offenders. They are playing on your stupidity. Your government is not interested in your welfare. They are interested in your money. Did you also know the CIA has been caught selling young children for prostituion to the Saudis? Wake up.
