SPRING, Texas (KHOU) Deanna Higgins, a teacher at Spring High School, has been charged with improper relations between an educator and student and sexual assault of a child.

In a letter to parents posted on the Spring ISD Web site, administrators say the DA accepted charges against Higgins on Monday.

Higgins, a science teacher, was placed on paid administrative leave in January 2009 after a third party brought the allegations to district officials.

"The Spring High School Administration and Spring ISD Police Department immediately began investigating the allegation after receiving a report from a third party," the letter reads.

Higgins was hired at the school in January 2008.

The letter also said a second teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave while a separate investigation is conducted.

"You may have heard rumors that another Spring High School teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave. It is true that a second teacher is on paid administrative leave while an investigation into a separate issue is in progress," the letter reads.

No other details on that investigation have been released.

Officials plan to send the letter home with students Tuesday afternoon.

When I was in school, I can remember daydreaming about some of my educators. Some were very attractive and some were just great people that you knew you would have great fun with and connect with on a much deeper level. We would have thought "The World" of any of my jock buddies that had a relationship with a teacher, but it just didn't happen!!! I've know "coaches in the country" that married ex-students after they graduated, etc. The teacher's now have grown up hearing from guys and husbands saying as much and now we are in a society that emphasizes looks and beauty and money above all else. 14 year olds much less 16 and 17 year olds dress like 23 year olds did 20 years ago and you really couldn't tell in situations other than a school setting if they were 15 years old or 22 years old. Industries make fortunes "selling" youth and beauty products, telling us what the essecense of beauty is and We Are Buying It! If an attractive person (or teacher!!!) is inundated with Abercrombie & Fitch models, half dressed teenage boys in sexy poses and those images are in front of you 100 times a day; I would imagine it would be the same temptation a man faces when we see the female counterpart in the same provocative ads 100's of times a day. Come to think of it, I think my Great Grandmother got married at 14, but they didn't go to school my past 6th or 8th grade. How old is an 8th grader? Oh my, it is 14 years of age. Well where do you meet someone that you end up marrying? High School? College? Guess for those kids today that are forced to stay in school to get that tax dollar from the state and fed, my great grandmothers option is no longer an option for the freedom loving country that values our FREEDOM. I as a voting member of society that votes "most things" wrapped up in Patriotism. Patriotism is kind of partial to freedom. Parents, not society are duly authorized to raise kids. This is Media selling itself. Society has the Major Problem with drinking in all this media and buying all that the Media pushes on us 24/7.

How many more? Higgins is the 5th Spring ISD teacher in 2 years and Coach Matt Tillman will soon be the 6th for Spring ISD in two years!
Nobody ruined her life but herself!
She is the adult, she was the freaking teacher that parent trusted their kids to!She chose the age of students that she wanted to teach and the responsibilities that come with teaching student of this crazy age! She accepted the duties as high school teacher and she was aware of the challenges that she may face at one time or another during her teaching career as high school teacher of teenagers. She had a choice and she is the adults. There is no excuse for her actions and the choices she made. She didn?t think about anyone but herself....not even her three beautiful children!

This is happening all over the country. Go to www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal page. This year they have documented over 350 of these types of incidents. In 2008 they found 478 of these kinds of cases.

I think she should stay after school and be disciplined by the principal. I will serve as monitor just to make sure their are no shenanigans.
