OKLAHOMA CITY (CBS/AP) Former Marine David Allen Tyner has been arraigned on six counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of four people whose bodies were found in a burning home, including prostitute Brooke Phillips featured on the HBO reality series "Cathouse."
According to The Oklahoman, prosecutors believe that Tyner, a member of a Native American gang called the Native Brotherhood, was gunning for his old boss, Casey Mark Barrientos, 32, a Hispanic man with a history of drug offenses. Tyner once worked for Barrientos as a body guard, the paper said.
After Tyner's arrest, fights broke out in three Oklahoma prisons between Native American and Hispanic gangs, according to The Oklahoman, which said officials are now investigating a possible link.
HBO "Cathouse" star Phillips, the victim who has garnered the most publicity, and another woman, Milagrous Barrera, were both pregnant, and possibly just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Tyner appeared Monday morning by video before Oklahoma County Special Judge Russell Hall, who denied bail, according to The Oklahoman.
Prosecutors charged Tyner on Friday in the Nov. 9 deaths of Phillips, Mark Barrientos, Jennifer Ermey and Barrera, whose bodies were found by firefighters responding to a house fire call.
Tyner is accused of stabbing, shooting and setting fire to the four and, according to investigators, he did not act alone.
