McGregor Scott, a former U.S. attorney in Northern California who is representing Dugard and her family for free, told The Associated Press Dugard knows she will have to testify against the Garridos if the case goes to trial.
"She fully understands that if there is a trial, she will be a witness, and she fully understands that some terrible things were done to her and the people who did those things need to be held accountable, which is why she is fully cooperating with law enforcement and prosecutors," Scott said.
The Garridos allegedly kidnapped 11-year-old Dugard in 1991 from her bus stop and held her in captivity for 18 years. She gave birth to two daughters during that time.
