NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Did Nancy Garrido, the wife of monster rapist and alleged abductor Phillip Garrido, deliver the two babies that her husband purportedly fathered with Jaycee Lee Dugard?

Dugard's children, now aged 15 and 11, have never seen a doctor, authorities said.

But Nancy Garrido was a licensed nursing assistant in California between 1989 and 1995. Her nursing background might help to explain how Dugard could deliver two healthy babies without visiting a hospital.

Nancy Garrido has worked in the healthcare system since 1981.

Next-door neighbor Helen Boyer, 78, said Nancy Garrido had worked in nursing homes for years but stopped about five years ago to become her step-mother's primary caregiver when she became bedridden. This all occurred while Dugard, kidnapped in 1991, was allegedly held prisoner in the backyard of the home Garrido shared with her husband.

In 1993, when Phillip Garrido went to prison for six weeks on a parole violation, the former nursing assistant watched over Dugard, authorities said.

Shortly after Phillip Garrido returned from jail, he impregnated a then 14-year-old Dugard with their first child, say police. That girl is now 15 years old. He impregnated her again four years later, cops say.

Nancy Garrido is being charged, with her husband, in the kidnapping and rape of Dugard, who, authorities say, was held captive as a sex slave for 18 years in the couple's Antioch, Calif., backyard.

OK fine, giving birth at home is NOT a big deal. Giving birth in a tent, at the age of 14, attended only by those two psychopaths, must have been an indescribable, terrifying experience. How can human beings treat each other like this?

I delivered my baby in a hospital surrounded by a capable medical staff when I was a 33 year old adult. Still, it was the most terrifying, painful experience of my life - and I had major surgery prior to having a baby and experienced other painful events, both physically and emotionally. Still I cannot imagine being a 14 year old child delivering a baby, not to mention that was conceived with a pervert, in a tent! I cannot get that image out of my mind. My heart goes out to that precious child and her children! Nothing the justice system does to those disgusting, filthy animals (wife included)is going to be bad enough punishment! America is dropping to ball on punishment for sexual perverts that prey on children. Drug dealers get more time in jail, and that is not right! These people cannot be rehabilitated. They are turned out to walk the streets just to commit the same and/or worse crimes. This case should illustrate the need for harsher punishment for these types of crimes against children.

Uhhh...delivering a baby at home--not THAT big a deal. Women had previously done this for eons, without medical intervention.
