"Twisted": Phillip Garrido Offered Kidnapping Prevention Tips

ANTIOCH, Calif. (CBS13) In a chilling revelation, a longtime child safety advocate and former client of Phillip Garrido's printing business said that the man accused of kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard and holding her hostage for 18 years used to give her tips on preventing child abduction.

Janice Gomes said she has known and worked with Phillip Garrido for 15 years, and was sickened to discover that he was accused of holding Jaycee Dugard in his Antioch backyard for nearly two decades.

Missing kids and child safety is Janice Gomes' passion, and she often turned to Garrido to print documents on the subject. Once she hired Garrido to print a tip sheet for families to prevent kidnapping.

Gomes said that Garrido had some extra advice.

"He said, 'Children really shouldn't be walking to the bus stop by themselves. Children are no match for adults,'" Gomes said.

Authorities have accused Garrido of kidnapping Dugard in eerily similar circumstances. The irony is thick and horrific for Gomes, who talked to Jaycee on the phone about printing jobs.

"She was sweet, very professional," Gomes said, adding that there were no indications that there was any sort of problem.

why would the phony grido like to go to police? it is because he is just so old to have such a psychiatric war with jaycee any longer. jaycee knew she has no law protection(i suppose, because there is no marriage license). the 3 monsters has been exhausted! that"s what i thought. CORRECT ME, ANTICO DECENT PEOPLE!

by John_Merritt September 3, 2009 12:27 PM EDT: 'Phillip Garrido Offered Kidnapping Prevention Tips' I did not read the story, but if I were to read the headlines right I would say the teacher should be fired, because it sounds like he was offered kidnapping prevention tips. I mean he did not learn the 'art' of kidnapping the first time, but he is a quick learner because he nailed it the second time. He needs to be stashed away for a long time. Where do we get all (raise) these sociopaths here in the states? It sounds as though his dad and family were normal and Phillip was a bad seed.; Reply to this comment

Taking safety and prevention advice from a child molester/kidnapper would be advisable. Ever watched Silence of The Lambs, ever wondered why the FBI was so pleased to capture serial killers like Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Albert DaSalvo or others? All captured alive.

It is so they can pick their brain (something you have proven time and again that you don't have).

It is so they can get information on what makes them kill. Why?

To try to predict future incidents before they occur.

Who would know more about how they kidnapped or acquired a child than the perp? You?

Safety and prevention is more than locking your door at night and hoping the police will show up in time to save your arz.
