An unidentified waitress at Twin Peaks Restaurant and Bar posses for a photo in Round Rock, Texas, Aug. 10, 2009.

MIDLAND, Texas (CBS/AP) An embarrassed Sheriff Gary Painter fired one Midland County deputy and suspended three others without pay after a scantily dressed waitress holding a rifle posed for photographs on the trunk of a patrol vehicle.

Round Rock officers were dispatched to the restaurant after someone reported the waitress with the weapon, which had been given to her by one of the deputies who had been attending a training session near Austin.

The incident occurred last week in the parking lot of a Twin Peaks Restaurant and Bar, which promotes its "fun, friendly and sometimes flirty atmosphere!"

The deputies told Painter that they had about three to five beers each.

A fifth deputy who remained inside the eatery got a letter of reprimand.

This is blown out of proportion! No wonder the cops are all so stressed out. This was just a silly photograph! Big deal! Can't the cops have fun and kid around every now & then. OK...yeah, they are suppose to be setting an example & be at a certain standard. Me? I don't think it was wrong....now, if they were drinking on the job, i think that was a no no! I also don't feel sorry for the thugs they punch out after they catch them on a high speed chase, etc. They deserve it!

All I know is if I had "three to five beers" and then proceeded to drive and was pulled over, I'd be in the pokey so fast it would make one's head spin...

If Midland Texas was so worried about their reputation,,,,they need to take down the highway sign on I-20 that praises Midland as the proud home of G.W. and Laura Bush. I don't think ANY city should be proud of ANY politician, from EITHER party right now,BOTH parties are to blame for ALL our economic problems,,,due to their love affair with corporate America and its LOBBY DOLLAR. Sheriff Painter is is just another puppet of the local political parties who spends more time chasing around praising the endless, failed war on drugs,,,,when in fact Midland has a bigger family violence problem that is left much unattended,,,,,so this seems kind of stupid in the first place, the deputies did NOT break any laws, just offended the sheriff. This is local knowledge , I'm local.

Hey Mrs Spam - I guess you wont be visiting a Twin Peaks anytime soon. LOL. If you think that was scandalous - visit the Twin Peaks Insider blog - the unofficial over the top web site for Twin Peaks fans. http://twinpeaker.wordpress.com

Come on people, if this had been some little girl petting a cute little kitten in her lap with a basket of flowers by her side, you would have said that it was a nice photo op for the local police, and how wonderful it was of them to take the time to let the little girtake a picture on the back of the squad car. The fact of the matter is that the few seconds involved with the taking of this picture, did not interfere with the duties of the officers. Unless this is a really old squad car and police force, they probably were able to maintain communication with their dispatchers. They could have just as well been eating Dunkin Donuts. By the way, would that be bad too? In the next few minutes, they could have been called to risk their lives and responded. Would you???? Kudos to the lucky cops.

What is wrong with this picture? Nothing. What was wrong with the person that reported this waitress getting photographed? Plenty, First off why was this person there if pretty women offended him/her? And what is so wrong or strange about anyone holding a gun in Texas? Guns and pretty girls goes together like peanut butter and jelly.

And what is so wrong about some sheriffs having a few beers? Technically they are off the clock for lunch and supper breaks.
