Caught on Tape: 110 MPH at 14-Years-Old
VIDEO COURTESY OF CBS AFFILIATE WLNS
LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MICH. (CBS) It started as a trip to Dairy Queen. It ended in a wild 110 MPH chase with police and a dramatic crash into a ditch. Luckily no one was hurt. But the big surprise was the daredevil at the wheel... a 14-year-old Mich. boy taking his younger brother and cousin for a night on the town.
Police near Lansing say the Mich. teen stole his dad's SUV to make the trip. When police caught him making an illegal left hand turn out of a Dairy Queen parking lot, the boy stepped on the gas instead of pulling over, officials say.
The teen, who sped past stop signs and traffic lights, reached speeds of up to 110 miles per hour, according to CBS affiliate WLNS. But he was also curtious enough to use his turn signal.
The chase ended when the teen driver crashed into a bank of trees at a dead end. The 14-year-old, his 10-year old brother, and their 12-year-old cousin were not seriously hurt, says WLNS.
The teen later told officers that he just panicked.
